Anderson Engineering Manifold Spacer

Only other thing is KDMax 10.9 tune. Did not notice any Mpg increase.

 

Thinking of pulling the trigger on buying this but up in the air on the High Performance Delrin or Aluminum. Any one prefure one over the other

 

Aluminum is much more expensive and its not a super high heat area. I have the delrin one. No issues at all.

 

How fast is shipping for you guys? What is the lead time on these? Two weeks? Three weeks? One week? The website says the product are in stock, but doesn't say anything on lead time.

 

Mine shipped out in about 1-2 days

 

I ordered one on Feb 12th (T6061 billet aluminum) but haven't heard anything regarding the order yet. However the site does say: Lead time for Aluminum only is 2-3 weeks from order date.

 

It's going to be 4 weeks for you and you haven't heard anything? I wonder what's going on? Have you tried contacting them?

That sounds pleasing to know it's been two days I haven't heard anything yet, but hoping to get a tracking number within the next few days.

 

I goofed on the order date, it was actually Feb 12th - it's only been 2 and half weeks.

Having said that, I did email asking if the order was on track on Feb 24th, but didn't hear back.

 

I got a UPS tracking number this afternoon, so that's a positive.

I've had mine in for a few months, and I think it was definitely worth it! Power comes in about 1k rpms lower than before install. So in situations where I'd normally have to downshift from 4th to 3rd, or 3rd to second, I can hold the gear because I have the power needed without downshifting. Definitely helpful for a manual transmission.

 

Truck Notes:

1. 2022 Tacoma TRD Pro 6 MT

Install Notes:

1. The install is a pain in the ass with respect to moving the harness out of the way of the spacer and starting the bolts. (60 min was spent here alone)
2. It took me about 90mins from start (collecting tools) to finish (breaking a tab on the lower airbox while I jammed things back together).
3. I should have left it to tomorrow, as I started at 17:30 and soon found myself racing the sunset.

Results:

1. This makes a big difference for MT trucks because it closes the gap between 1st and 2nd gear.
2. From 1500rpm the truck still struggles a little.
3. From 1800rpm the truck is ready for action and cruises well.
4. From 2000rpm onwards, the truck has life and urgency in all gears.
5. Preliminary efficiency seems to have improved (looking at instant rates via OBD2 and phone).
6. B road cruising is improved in 4th - 6th gears.
7. Highway cruising seems to be improved as well as there is enough power to not have to drop to 5th. The in-between zone seems to be gone now.
8. Overall appears to be a positive mod that compliments the daily use of the truck.

Keep in mind these observations are with a (almost) back-to-back drive, but only about 40km of distance. I'll do some proper testing over the next month / tanks of fuel.

As others have said, it does what it was supposed to do in shifting the power band down 1000rpm.

 

Appreciate the update. That's good that the spacer actually helps out our sluggish low end Tacoma. My curiosity now is if it will do the same for an automatic. It seems like you got a lot of mods on your truck. How is the urd y pipe helping you? Any improvement with that mod?

 

• I'm not sure the impact that will be had on the automatic. I suspect it would be an improvement as well, but the differences in gearing and a torque converter might come into play. There seem to be a few more automatic folks here; it would be good to hear their thoughts.

• The mods I chose were to improve drivability, though I also have a matte black steering wheel emblem cover.

• The URD catless Y-pipe frees up some midrange torque, which can be felt and the engine just feels uncorked/unplugged. In terms of improvement, going from stock to URD was similar, may be half of the benefit of the spacer. In the end, the cumulative effect of the mods has me pretty content with the truck. I found it to be pretty dull in stock form.

 

AT here. Makes a difference you can feel for sure. Pulls better (5100 lb. trailer) and holds 4th on the freeway at 65 mph towing much better than with no spacer. Have the KDMax tune also and the two combined are a great combo.

 

Does the cables you pipe increase the sound of the exhaust at all?
I have pretty much all the same mods as your truck except I have the urd short shifter instead of the core shifter. Intrested in the cables you pipe though. You got any check engine lights from it?

 

There is a slight increase in sound. It is throatier and louder, but it does not drone on my truck. I also have the TRD exhaust factory installed (I think). Occasionally, I get a P0420 but have gotten fairly proficient at clearing it on the go. Happens once every few months, but I do have some O2 elbows with catalyst material waiting to be installed.

 

Sure you don't have a vacuum leak somewhere? Did it start after the spacer install?

 

Would love to get a manual but longbeds don't come in manual. Plus gotta make sure the wife can drive it as well .

This is great to know. Did it effect the high end at all?

How much power are we losing? I don't mind losing a little up top versus that we increase low end due to the fact the truck barely sees pass 4k and above unless I'm really trying to pass someone up. Other than that rpm stay between 3500k and below.
