Took the wife's Honda in for an oil change and tire rotation, never fails, they called and said it needs an air filter and cabin filter. I know, I'll take care of it

He also said it needs tires, I said I know, rotate those for free one last time and I'll bring vaseline on the next visit.

Air filter and cabin filter...that will be $400.

Does it even have a cabin filter?

I think it does, it's a 2020 and most of the newer stuff does. My Duramax is a 2003 and my Civic is as well, I know they don't.

I sent my wife a text and told her it would need tires to prepare her for sticker shock, she said I noticed they were getting worn and they have to be bad for me to notice it

My 2005 Pilot had a cabin air filter. I had to watch a video on how to replace it.

It involved removing the glove box and cutting a cross bar out with a hack saw blade.

I spent most of yesterday working on cleaning up the floorplan for our new almost done building so we can get it loaded into our system.

Only to be greeted by an email that came in after I left yesterday with a whole new batch of floorplans because the architect left some stuff out.

    :annoyed:

    Job security, I guess.

I absolutely never thought I would say this, but last night, sitting in the shop, I was reconsidering my viewpoint on "safe spaces." If I could have found one yesterday I would have pitched a tent and settled in that space for awhile.
But, It's 10am EST and nothing has died, burned or gotten hit yet, so fingers crossed! Let me describe my day yesterday in pictures:

I liked this post although there is nothing to like about it. What I liked is how you stepped up and were there for the people who are important in your life. Just make sure you take time to reflect on what you need and communicate that to those that can help. And once you figure out how to do that, tell me, so I can learn how it is done.

That was a excellent description in pictures hiPSI !
Hit a bit of a snag this morning attempting to put the coupling hub onto the new fire pump. I measured everything beforehand and the new pump shaft was .002" larger diameter. This shouldn't have been a problem but I also noticed the shaft buggered a bit at the key slot. My coworker massage it with a file but evidently not enough. We heated the coupling up to 400° and attempted to install and it hit the brakes where that spot was. Take in a little coffee and try again. I smooth out that spot near key already.
We kind of have too many chefs in the kitchen on this job today. If you ever been there before you know

Back when I was younger and lived in WV (on top of a mountain) there was a train track in the valley beside the creek. This track was used a lot for hauling coal. Every fall it seemed, the train would spark using the brakes and start a fire. Now remember, WV is mostly empty forests so there is a lot of room for stuff like this. For several years, when a fire would start, one of the men would smell smoke and notify the rest of us and we would get our rakes, shovels and saws and head over the mountain to help the railroad guys fight the fire. We did it to protect our land and homes. After we put it out the railroad guy would hand each of us $20 or something and we would go home. These were more ground fires than anything else. WV is too green and wet to get those fires like Cali gets, the fires would just stay in the leaves and underbrush.
My point: I would be fighting my section of the fire. I would rake a line, then turn around and grab a log and throw it back over into the already burned area, oops, the fire jumped my fire break, gotta make another, oh wait, it is getting bigger over there so I ran over there to stomp it, oops it jumped the break so I grab my shovel and throw dirt on the fire.
Point is, it was chaos for several hours. You did your best, made decisions and acted, and eventually, and collectively, we would get the fire out. But the only way to do that is to
    Trust your buddy
Know that chaos now is order later
Be willing to fight the fire because you have the confidence to prevail.

Yesterday, my confidence was tested and luckily, it did not fail. Thanks for the kind words man.
