    Howdy,

I have a 2020 SR 4 Cylinder with no Toyota Towing Trim package. Although, I did recently wire up a 7-pin plug, tow hitch, and sumo springs. I've read through the majority of the forum posts about being able to locate the factory plug to hook up and get going. I'm pretty confident I don't have it (I'm adding some pictures from behind the kick panel) I'm curious what others have done to convert their tacos to have a brake controller. Interested in brands, videos, and guides, as all the videos I find have the factory plug.

I've recently purchased a travel trailer and want to be as safe as possible.20240310_155809.jpg 20240310_155826.jpg 20240310_155859.jpg

I have ordered a RedArc and some of the additional wiring harnesses. The issue that I'm seeing is that a truly don't have the vacant plug tucked up anywhere under the dash. I'm assuming because of my SR package and no tow features that it's not there. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Do ALL 3rd Gens have the plug?

If you have the tow package the plug is hidden back near the left foot panel/firewall. You have to look for it but it’s there. If the truck didn’t come with the two package (4cyl don’t come with it) there is no plug.

2.7L tacos can't haul heavy enough to need a brake controller....

Yes, that’s what I said because he doesn’t have the tow package since he has a 4cyl (2.7)

    Nonsense.
Some small RV trailers of under 1500 pounds come standard with electric brakes. 20 years ago the Coleman Taos popup came with electric brakes and it was only 1100 pounds. Coleman equipped all their popups with brakes. Dutchmen did the same as did Jayco as an option. The 2.7L 2TR-FE can tow up to 3500 pounds in North America.
We had a small fleet of 2.7L Tacomas towing RVs, Boats, utility trailers, ... . All had electric brakes on the trailer.
Why not be as safe as you can towing?

You will have to hardwire for the brake controller on the 2.7L. Add to the flat four wires converter (drivers side tail light) from the battery back. Go through the grommet under the drivers seat. It is not that difficult. But about 4 hours work.
