Rubbing, but not for my pleasure ‍33x12.50/17

So I expected some rubbing but not as aggressive as it is. I did a simple leveling kit 3F2R and for some reason mainly in reverse either way the wheels turned im really making some noise rubbing either my LCA or frame. My wheels have a -12 offset but aside from getting some THICK spacers does anyone have any suggestions? I don’t have assistance spotting the problem area.

 

I bet it's on the cab mount. You shouldn't be hitting the frame or lca with a -12. More offset will only make it worse. I don't thinkni have heard of a 12.5 fitting without the chop

 

@Veet-88 I also replaced the UCA’s thinking it’d provide more flexibility but obviously not. You recommend an angle grinder?

 

Mine rubs in reverse with my 33s too, it’s the cab. I did some minor cutting and just do 8 point turns now.

other option is to ignore it and keep having it make you twerk in the driver seat when backing into the garage

 

Or go to a smaller tire / better alignment shop. Are you on factory uppers?

 

No, every truck is different. Depends on where you hit, alignment #s, what other parts you are running.. some kits are pushing tire forward, etc.. but you can likely trim and tuck some inner fender without hacking up your truck.. if it’s cab mount there’s fill plates or even a relocate bracket that looks pretty sweet.. some fabrication required

Depending on the uca it can make matters worse. But pushing additional caster will help but a general rule of thumb a 285 on a 0 offset wheel with a proper alignment is the biggest wide tire you can mount without a cab mount chop. I would recommend finding a reputable shop that can do a cab mount chop right. Once cut a plate is welded back on, if you intend to wheel the truck at all flattening the pinch weld is recommended aswell.

 

Hopefully others will chime in but your alignment (pushing the tire as far forward as it allows) will help too.. I think that’s why they are saying “better alignment”

I currently have 17 x 8.5 with a -10 offset on 265/70/17
I have a leveling kit 2” front / 1” rear and I’m thinking of going with 285/70/17.
Does anyone know what modifications I need to do in order to make these fit?

I had 285/70’s prior to my 33’s and had no problems at all with rubbing. But an inch higher in the front and rear more than you. Hopefully it won’t lead you into the problem I’m having with mine now.

full disclosure, I don’t have this setup. There is some conversation about the safety of this as it relates to the tire coming into the cab in the event of a crash.. please research
