So I made this fire pit out of an existing well pump house. My plan is to use pavers at the top to make it look better. What can I used to attach the pavers? Will they stand up to heat? I suck at mixing mortar and using it correctly. I was looking at refractory cement that's meant for fireplaces but it's not meant for outdoor use. I'd like to use an already wet cement if possible. Any ideas?

    Can you make pancakes?

If you can mix pancake batter, you can mix a bag of mortar.

The instructions are on the bag.

    You got this.

I know. I think the previous problems were because I didn't use a whole bag at a time so I was trying to calculate how much water for so many pounds. I'll try the mortar and just use the whole bag this time.

Build thread in sig... 4-link long travel
So the Charleston county landfill will not take one truck bed, but they will take two half truck beds no problem.
    upload_2024-3-13_16-44-42.png

Right on! Come on by once this process gets a little further along. Should be a fun couple of months. Full cage long travel. 4 link on coilovers in the back. After I un-wire the frame and pull the fuel tank, the whole back of the frame is getting chopped off.

I just sold my custom off road trailer about a month ago to partially fund the new LT build. Plus I'm using the bedsides temporarily to fend off the HOA by making it kinda look like a whole truck. Little bit of tape and we're good to go.

I'm not a fireplace guy, but maybe something like this or this or this. Just confirm that it can be used as an exterior cement but I wouldn't see why it cant. Make sue that you're using fire brick as bricks with moisture trapped inside have the potential to explode when subjected to high heat. I say that but I'm using those exterior yard pavers so I like to live dangerously. :anonymous:

I used river stone as a fire pit material in my youth… I think I still have shrapnel under my skin. Really gives new meaning to a crackling fire

I'm mainly using this to burn yard debris. The existing bricks have been there who knows how long. Not too worried about them. I used to burn the yard debris right outside of this. Using gas. So it got very hot and no issues.
But if pavers may explode, I may just leave it as is. Not willing to spend a ton of money on this.

Completely agree, I just don't want to see someone get hurt by using the wrong bricks. If the fire is small in the center of your enclosure, you should be ok but if you're using river rock or slate for pavers or porous stone that could be holding water internally, they have a higher chance of exploding. If you're reliving burning man every night with the funeral pyre blazing high into the sky, then you may have some concern. If it's just a simple yard debris fire, you'll be golden. No sweat.

Nothing wrong with that. I rocked one wrong color for a while, then when I almost sold the taco I sold it for $200 than I paid for it.

I kinda miss mine. After I figure out a seized (now stripped) bed bolt , I’m going to toss my BAMF rack back in.
