Excellent! Do you still working for the same employer? Seem like he was a good guy to work for and you enjoyed it.
I'm still a little bent out of shape at my job because it doesn't look like any chance for promotion. The last supervisor position to get filled was buy a guy w/little more than a years service and I didn't even get interviewed. Lots of employees leaving here lately. (Reason for wage updates and comparisons)

I do still work in the same shop, commute is 55 minutes one way. I've gotten used to it, no traffic the times I travel so that's good. Pays not the best but it works...for now. Wife tried to get the kids insurance when we moved but I don't make enough, they are on medicaid which is weird. She said she didn't want them on medicaid, I said what's it matter, they have insurance.

My commute is 45 minutes each way and pretty much the same no traffic so not too bad.
Yes, some type of health insurance is all that matters. When wife and I lost our jobs 23 years ago I bought some type of policy that just covered a major medical expense. But it wasn't for long until I got work with benefits.
Now I'm in a low premium high deductible plan but I put $ in health savings account and it seems to work good for us.
Wife has been doing well and final outcome of her health issues was a type of arthritis.
My latest concern came with a CT scan of upper body because I've smoked for 40+ years. My lungs, heart and arteries looked great but something on my thyroid. So followed up with ultrasound and next is biopsy on Monday.

    Another life lesson story:
In 1989, I sold my 1st house and bought the house we would live in for the next 30 years, even though I did not know that at the time. I made a profit on that transaction. Remember, in 1989 I was 26 years old, interest rates were at 12% and you had to pay taxes on real property gains. My wife was in the middle east for several months (Flight Nurse - Air Force) so I sold, bought and moved by myself.
I got my W2's in late January and, went to the post office and picked up my 1040 long form and proceeded to do my taxes, by hand!
I owed three grand because of the profit I made on the house. I was devastated. I did not have three grand. I had just bought a new house. I had zero extra money. My wife called home once every two weeks. I told her and she asked what was I going to do? I had no plan and two and a half months to make an extra three grand. Which would be the equivalent of two months pay for me!
So, I developed a plan. I was already on salary so I could not make overtime. I went to the VP of engineering and told him my troubles. He asked if I could weld and I said yes. He arranged for me to work part time on 2nd shift at our plant, mounting brackets and components that I designed during the day.
So, for the next few months, I averaged 12 to 16 hours of work a day. However, I was still going to be about five hundred dollars short, so I did not eat out. I only bought the bare minimum groceries, and, I raided our pantry. :help::stirthepot:
I told my wife what I was doing during our next scheduled call. She asked what I had for dinner. I said creamed corn, stewed tomatoes and macaroni. :puke:
In those two and a half months, I ate our whole pantry and the only meat I had was two jars of dried beef, a few cans of tuna and six cans of chicken. I bought the absolutely cheap groceries. No milk or cheese. Dented cans was what I bought.
I made $2500 and saved $600 and paid my taxes with $100 to spare. The night of April 15th, 1989 I went to our Ponderosa Steak House, by myself and ordered a T-Bone steak dinner.
I had only lost about 10 lb or so but I did it.
My wife came back a few weeks later.

Moral of the story? Don't be a dumbass like I was.
So, now, I have my employer take out an extra $500 a month, above my normal withholdings. I did my taxes a few weeks ago (on computer lol) and I am getting back a total of $6,090.
So I am right on the money. It is a terrible way to save money at zero percent gain, but I damn sure know that if I screw up again I will not have to eat creamed corn and tuna.

With the nanoscopic interest a savings account pays these days the convenience of the extra withholding is worth it.

Good to hear Creed ur feeling better man, nice set up in the back yard. Vegetables on one side, venison on the other, chickens on the other. Get ya a couple goats for Cole to milk and y'all never have to leave the house for much.

This truck is what we call a Re-charger. It brings breathing air from where it's mixed and pressurizes our facility and other mobile Bair tanks up to 5k.
