I guess the second half pertains to you?

If you have that kind of a home life, you need a divorce.

Aeronautical engineer here ... it is all about contamination. Replacing a filter and oil is much cheaper on any wear item (engine) vs pushing suspension of dirt within lubricants to the limits.

Consider the source, Toyota is going to tell you the wear limits for marketing, illusion of durability, and cost to their company if failure wear occurs during warranty.

5K seems to be the sweet spot for those that care about their vehicle to not have issues. Sure, you can push your luck to 10K but at 75 bananas per oil change, decreasing your odds of a $10 - 15K engine failure is well worth it.

The good news is that you can just pull over if you have an engine failure ... tough if it happens in the air ... hence aviation lubricants are spec'd for half their life when used in the air vs on the ground ... and the exponential cost for wear components.

Never once done an oil change on my aviation engines or transmissions. Not even a requirement in any manual unless there’s contamination of some kind.

Isn't that the point of the used oil analysis?

I don't do them myself but I think understand the logic behind them..

One can never have too many light bars.
The need to change your oil is a myth invented by oil companies in order to sell you more than just gas. Do your own research
