Yeah, I was thinking about doing it myself but without a lift and bugging a friend to help, I'm going to have a shop do it. They quoted me nine man hours so it's a half day.

Not cheap but at least it will be done right.

    how much?

i'm wonderinjg if the tanks can be swapped without lifting the bed. LRA says it's a "direct swaap" so basically jsut taking the bolts out and putting back in.

LRA said that the bed does NOT need to come out to install it. You drop the old one, cut a spring bolt, trim part of the bed and it can all be done from underneath.

I suppose putting the truck up on jack stands would give you enough room.

PDF. It doesn't look difficult to do, just takes about a day if you do it yourself.

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
Some things to consider having done this on a second gen long bed.

you will need to lift the bed up at least 4” or so to gain access to all the connections on top of the stock tank to disconnect.

disconnect all the bed bolts then lift with a floor jack and place blocks on top of the frame to give space. Don’t forget the filler neck.

Stock tank residual gas will be a pain in the butt. The fuel pump swap over is easy but I recommend a new pump while you are there.

The new tank going in wasn’t as easy as portrayed for me. It was brutal by myself with a couple jacks to balance it going up into place.

Not all my mounting points worked well and some of the holes had to be massaged a bit. This required tank going up and down multiple times. I never got the rear center mount to work and had to fabricate my own.

was it worth it? Absolutely, but always a bit sketchy with a daily driver. I would start on a Friday so you are good for work Monday.
