One was a supergrade, one was one of the old style professionals with the Ed Brown cut, and two were fully engraved and $6000 would probably be lowball, but they did seem kind of old.

This was a 40 year old couple getting rid of pop-pop’s stuff and I told them that they could probably sell those guns through an estate auction, but they didn’t seem to care.

Things taken from an arrest are different. Depending on the department policy they can be resold, local department here does that for unclamed firearms. The money goes toward the training budget.

Larger departments destroy it all just for liability/optics, plus their budget is not affected by the relatively small amount it would bring in.

That’s kind of depressing, it’s like watching 60 and 80 series Land cruisers being turned in during cash for clunkers, knowing they’re going to cube them.

My buddy was told to stop after the 8th or 9th colt python and the dozen or so 1911's he acquired for the armory vs being destroyed.

An MP44 was destroyed in Norcal years back. Daughter found it after the father died.

Maybe 15 years ago a smaller agency in socal found one, widow told the responding officers about it when her husband passed. War trophy, the range guy pulled in every favor to get a letter for it and not have it destroyed. That range guy was a huge gun guy, he was always getting interesting gear to test for their swat team and their guys had some crazy stuff.

There used to be tons of WWII machine guns sitting around CA, between people that owned them legally way back in the day to all the vets that settled here after war ended. I used to hear of one turning up every couple months, now its maybe one a year.

I did not, wasn’t aware of such a deal. I went with the “pay full price before full price goes up again” sale at the local Cabela’s.

Felt like I better get one when available, every time I saw someone with stock they’d sell out, and skipping the transfer fee saved a little

When I finally got to go pick it up (thanks to the bullshit 10 day wait on long guns now) the guy behind the counter said there’d been multiple people in that day looking for one.

Nice! I have too many things bookmarked at this point- optic plate, optic, aluminum mag tube, aluminum barrel clamp, white light, gonna end up spending more on accessories than I did on the gun lol

I was joking with the guy at the store, probably the last Beretta shotgun I’ll be able to afford, got my dads 686 Onyx handed down to me, if I wanted to buy an o/u new looking at $2500, even the Browning pump I learned to shoot retails new for over $800 and was under $300 new when my dad bought it in the 80’s.

Apparently (one of) the new plan to limit your right to own a gun is to make them unaffordable

I’m kind of on the fence whether I should get the Wilson Combat massaged Glock 19.

Didn’t know you can get a Glock 19 in CA or are you buying second hand? Isn’t that off-roster?
