Only on private property. The majority of the bush is owned by the State Park. Although my next door neighbor gives me plenty of chances. He has a 2WD Tacoma and has 17 acres. He gets stuck here and there. It’s fun helping him out, lol

Other than that, when it rains, the entire canyons can certainly involve wheeling just to get home or out.

That makes sense. I've hiked the entire backbone trail, and all through the Santa Monica mountains since I was a kid and.never found an area where it is allowed, so when I saw your post I got excited.

When Santa Maria was open to the public, the dirt road leading up to it was crazy slick when it rains(ed). That would have been the kind. But I took it once late for work because the 27 came to a hault. I thought I was being slick. Shit. Slick it was. Heading down uncontrollably, pouring rain, and how I managed to keep the 2nd Gen OR away from the ditch was nothing but a miracle. So I get to work and the truck was a complete fucking mess. Mud everywhere. And the worst stick too. So I get to my class and the principal is teaching the class :anonymous: I told her what happened and then she says meet me at your truck during recess. LOL! We meet and she sees it was fresh and a clusterfuck for a mud job Ahahaaa.

The only other thing I can think of is Red Rock. It does have a somewhat gnarly trail when it rains. But I believe the rangers close it when it does rain heavily.

Speaking of the back bone trail, a bear made that his home. Must have come from Los Padres or Angeles. He was seen bathing in the Ocean Pacific late one evening. Good stuff.

Heading down my hill, this cat and his family/friends take care of a very cool house. I heard it was up for sale via a private auction. Not sure about that. I know his father. I should stop by sometime just in case they do move. That house was built with old growth redwood. The office room is fucking amazing to say the least. DWP used to be the owners where the big wigs would come to their cabin and hunt for bear/mountain lion etc back in the early 1900’s. On a side note, the house next door to us was a frequent hangout for Charlie Chaplin. Good stuff.

Had to make it official for the big guy. I don’t have many photos of it. But I built this so that it would have some parking in front of the garage. Miss that truck. Spotted in Topanga Canyon many many moons ago.

Not the best execution imho. It looks cool, but it doesn't sell me. That v4 with those tires are making me worried.

My thoughts exactly. Too much stress on the turbos over time. It’s still not as bad as that trd jon guy wanting to put 37’s on his with the 4 banger.

Not sure about a V4, Toyota is putting an inline 4 in 4th gens. Being a TRD OR trim means this doesn’t have the base engine but one of the higher 2 output options, either of which is worlds better than the 3.5. Oh and the 4th gen has 2 more forward gears :jerkoff: bUt ChAnGe Is BaD

    3.5 = 278hp @ 6,000 / 265 lb-ft @ 4,600

    i-Force Max = 326hp @ 6,000 /465 lb-ft @ 1,700
    i-Force = 278hp @ 6,000 / 317 lb-ft @ 1,700

Remember that horsepower sells, torque works.

@powder1134, you should try Red Rock on a rainy day if you’re ever in the area. It leads to some hiking trails/fire roads with some great scenery. The 4th picture is where it floods on heavy days.

Sorry hometowns, back to your regularly scheduled Southern Cal program!

I’ll still take a “slow” but more proven powertrain with better reliability.

When you feel like experiencing something new, I HIGHLY recommend you visit Bravo 69. Find parking near the gate off of Saddle Peak Road, and walk up to the top where the helipad is. Wow. Only 2400’…I had the privilege several months ago to be part of a group that toured the place. When you look to the south at the Pacific Ocean, you can see the curvature of our planet. I never experienced that as I thought one had to be up in the Himalayas for that! Been high in Angeles and never have experienced that feeling.

The fella that was the owner/GM(?) of KMET and several other radio stations he worked at donated the 34 acres so that they could fight fires in Topanga, Malibu and neighboring cities within a 5 mile range. Pretty bad ass. I had no idea he was there standing amongst us. All of a sudden, the fella doing the presentation said he had to stop his presentation because the owner was taking off in his chopper. Turbine starts to wind up and then goes on to tell us he’s the pilot as well!!! Super interesting dude.

This video is old. The tanks are now steel and much bigger. The new pumpkins can now sustain a big force, including Chinook’s.
