    Hi folks,

Back at Christmas I attached "Bolt-on" sliders (don't hate on me) and although the sliders are rock solid, at the front of the frame (behind front wheel), they were really close to the pressed seam of the body.

Well, now on the left side, they hit and knock when the body bounces on its rubber mounts.

I was thinking of removing the body bolt in that area and trying to squeeze a thick washer in between as sort of a "tweak-it body lift." I wasn't planning on doing it to all of the body bolts though.

    Do you think this'll work?

    Any other ideas?

    RZ Rob

    the list is growing
Take the sliders off and slot the bolt holes slightly. Is that even an option?

Just take a grinder and notch the pinch weld and fold over the tab above the slider legs.

Is there 2 bolts at each bolting location where the sliders meet the frame ?

And are they stacked vertically ?

iWouldn't it be the most effective for sliders to be WELDED on? That's what I always thought. Weld sliders,Bolt tubes and floorboards

Depends on the design. Like I've many times before my CBI, that are bolt on, are very solid and haven't moved separately from the frame when slamed on.

Thanks guys. OK, it looks like I've got a project today.

S.B., I'm really happy for you, but obviously yours aren't as close to the body as mine.

Kingfrog, for some weld-on is the way to go, however not for me. Mine may be bolt-on, but I assure you, they aren't budging - at all. Nice thing is, I can unbolt them to address this issue.

Totally off topic dude. There are other threads debating bolt vs. weld on sliders...kinda surprised you didn't start one...

I would try to address it through slider repositioning or modification. That way you still have the pinch weld as an indicator in case things start to get serious. You want to know before you lay a slider down hard on something and end up with it in your rocker panel.

Oh yeah, I think it's because it's barely touching that the body knocks. I'm going to try to reposition the sliders slightly.

I was asking about the orientation of the mounting bolts because if they are oriented above and below each other , you could shim behind the upper bolt and cant the sliders down slightly .

They run both ways - up from the bottom and from the side. It's going to be an issue.

Th.at's the latest plan. Well, shimming the bottom, and ovaling the side mounts

In the end this was the only thing I could do to retain the structural integrity of the attachment. I didn't bother folding over the tab (great idea). I just ground a 1/4" off in that area. My plan is to black out the entire seam so you can't notice it.

I'm having the same problem with mine currently, everytime I hit a big bump or flex the frame a bit they smack my truck!

Edit, could you just bend the whole pinch weld or should I just cut out around the pinch welds? and paint the rest black?

    I'll post a pic tomorrow. I just ground a 1/4" x 2" chunk away. I cried a bit, but once I black it, you'll never notice.

What did you cover the pinch weld cuts with after cutting? I'm worried about that cut area being exposed to elements and causing issues
