So last weekend we stopped by our local stealership to see if they had one to look at. Lucky enough, they had a black crew cab sport outside, that was unlocked. Best part was they weren't open!

So we open the doors. First thing she notices is the cheap plastic molle panels on the doors, "That's cheap looking!". I noticed that the seats although more sporty looking, felt really kinda hard to sit on. The seating position is much better than before. But the inside as whole feels more cramped. Liked the size of the screen, and felt that it was not in the way of view. Liked that the buttons all look like they were designed for this vehicle, and not part bin leftovers from decades ago. This one of my biggest complaints of my 3gen.

Didn't test drive it, or turn it on. Just not impressed enough to stick around to drive a $57k truck. Just my 2 cents ...

No, I have sat in the new Tacoma 3 times now and driven one once a few weeks ago. The interior is way cheaper feeling than the Nissan Pro-4x on the SR5 models. I can’t say about the limited as I have yet to see it but yeah, the SR5 seems to be pretty bad to me.

If the Nissan had leather then sure that’s nicer than cloth seats in an SR5.

The Frontier uses cheap plastics and cheap switchgear, some of which date back 20 years at this point. There are a few small odds and ends that Nissan did better (Frontier gauge cluster is nicer than the SR5, but the TRD and Limited models are the best)

    It’s all personal preference though

Ya I agree with the sr5 vs the pro4x not the same, but it seems like right now you can get them both for a similar price.

Pro4x is much cheaper than the SR5 lol. I mean it does vary, but local dealer has the Nissan for 37k lol.

I agree, there are several other things that the Ranger does that makes it more useful that I like as well.

Sucks it is limited to a DCSB config, but 48" between the wheel wells is a huge win for Ford. Also, I don't understand why it is so hard to put a center armrest in the back seat for Toyota. Neither appear to have vents though, real vents, not the on the floor crap passing as vents.

Interesting. I have not felt that way when in the Frontier. It's very nice. The SR5 has some really cheesy plastics that are not just hard but very cheap feeling. We'll see how the limited is when someone finally get's one.

Another note. The new 14" screen plus the camera gear around the mirror really leads to an occluded view out the front in the Tacoma in my opinion. Every time I get into it I notice it. I could probably live with it but it's noticeable. Made worse of course when the put in the stupid Toyota dashcam as it's big and ugly and takes up more of the windshield. I think having the screen embedded into the dash makes a lot more sense. One thing Frontier really lacks though is camera mirror. I love those on trucks since of course you can see even with a bed full of stuff.

Toyota may be challenging them for that crown this year.

Is that QC hold still in effect on the new Tacoma?

    Glass houses and all.

For the record, I am in the club that thinks they all kind of suck from a reliability perspective right now. GM included.

Weirdly, Nissan might be the best bet right now.

I never said anything about reliability. Just seems ford cut the most corners on the 2023s

How so? I never said total of vehicles, I said total recalls. Ford had around 30 recalls ...Toyota has had a couple I think
