Anyone have this installed in their tacomas? SR/SR5's specifically? Non push to start version.

Just purchased it, watched some videos, did some research. Seems simple to install, just curious if anyone has any hands on feedback witu it in their tacomas

    I don't have it.
I like having a physical key to unlock my doors and turn my ignition

Thank you for this post that's great feedback. I'll have to consider this next time. Glad that worked out for you.

But in all seriousness, ya I've never owned a push to start vehicle and having a key was one of the many reasons I went with an SR5 over a TRD. To me, remote start can be helpful, push to start feels like a liability. Fob dies, or I set it down somewhere close enough to the vehicle to drive away without realizing its not in my pocket by the time I park somewhere, ppl steal the RFID signal and boost your vehicle etc

Need is not the term I'd use. More of a want so I can defrost my windows, or start warming up my seats, or turn on the AC before my fat ass sits down and drives away.

I also like the idea of needing a key to drive but ability to remote start when I want to get the bitch to a driveable interior temperature

Don’t bother explaining yourself, this is America not some communist shithole, you don’t have to NEED something just to have it

    Wanting something is 100% ok

The people asking why you need a remote start don't have to deal with snow or cold I bet.

I had this brand in My Rav4 for 5 years with no problems.
They were really good about answering questions and the install was easy with the instructions.
Sorry, none in my SR5, but this brand is decent.

Yep have it on my 2020 ive had it 3.5 years old no issues works everytime!! Just snip and reconnect the Tpms wires if I remember correctly everything else plugged in it was simple.

Remote start truck, unlock door with push button on key, get in it stays running and put key in and turn forward then touch foot brake. Good to go.

I also have the start x remote start.
Being in VT I wouldn’t be without one.
It works but range is only as good as key fob. Between heat and ac and being old it is a great mod.
Install was pretty simple make sure your plastic dash is warm.
I did mine in the cold but let truck run heat on high. Happy with mine and pretty cheap compared to others.

I didn’t cut any wires on my 18 push button. It does not stay running when I open my door!
    Damm push button start!

Yes. I have this in my 2020 and love it. Living in AZ, it's nice to cool the truck before I get in. I have the Carlink module as well and can start from anywhere with cell service. And, with the H key, the vehicle stays running when the door is opened. Put the key in, turn to run and step on the brake. Truck stays running.

There is one wire that you have to cut to splice into the TMPS on the H key install. Cannot remember what the signal was used for. Had mine for a couple years and it works good.

For me, a Start Remote is essential, because of the winters in the mountain areas of Oregon where I live, I have it in my Tahoe, the Corolla and now I am looking for one for the 2019 TRD with the wife's ignition button.

I'm looking for what would be the best option, but I don't like that some remote start switches off the vehicle when you open the door.
