I just ordered some Blackstone kits. I put fresh oil in right after the turbo install and haven't changed it since so it could be interesting

 

The guy likes a minimum of 3,000 miles on it before you send it in. How's your oil breather doing is it still getting full pretty quick?

 

The oil catch needs dumped about as often as the gas tank needs filled or it'll be making a mess all over the fender. The smell is definitely better in the cab now that I have the catch can vent right in front of the air intake instead of right next to the ABS sensor

 

I've done the oil about everything 3k miles since picking it up and it's right in schedule.

When I changed the oil pump I packed it with Vaseline as recommended so hopefully they don't see that mixed in there and assume I've been doing naughty things with the motor

 

I don't actually know that there's anything specific in Vaseline that he could even pick up. Just mark it in the comment section. I'm pretty sure it's fully solvent in oil though.

 

Why Vaseline and not assembly lube? When I rebuilt the LS I just gooped it full of Lucas assembly lube.

 

Depends on the pump type, both are totally fine though in an LS. The lucas stuff is sticky but thinner than Vaseline, sometimes priming a pump can be really tough the first time. I've had to remove the pumps on sitting AMC motors to pack them full of grease to get them to suck up fresh oil again. It's usually the old gear style pumps that need a thick packing of grease or vaseline. The gerotor style in the LS primes better, has a bit of suction

I want one of the ones with the Scamp clone design two piece fiberglass shell body.

This is true, it's also a pipedream since I'm looking for a pretty specific "Dolphin".

It's this one, pop top style so it can be stood in but not be too high and the fiberglass body. This is the long one but I could chop it up right I think. The back portion is surprisingly not crazy heavy if you remove some of the dumb camper BS like the bathroom and fullsize fridge and stove. Lots more modern lightweight shit I could put inside. I'm not looking to reuse any of the "vintage" interior.

Seems like the indoor plumbing would be part of the appeal.

I'm not looking to become less capable, and if it turns out to be I'm certainly not throwing my bed away. But the measurements of these old things says its the same width as a tundra... or a 1st gen with LT and the weight looks entirely manageable.
