i don't know who's in charge of updating the Iditarod's website this year but they freaking suck at it! Usually there's several updates throughout the day as the mushers progress along the trail. Twice now they've gone without updating a musher's status for DAYS. Last guy was out for almost 40 hours between checkpoints and no update on the site, now there's another that hasn't been heard from since just before midnight Wednesday. He only had like 30 miles to the next checkpoint, should have been there in a few hours.

Good morning all. Was supposed to rain and thunder all night last night. Thankfully, for our Doggo, neither happened. But it is solid clouds today. Probably get a little rain.

If I had "earned" the aches and pains from having done something, I could be semi-proud. They all started with a large spinal tumor..... and God knows what else. But at least I can still get out of bed every morning and manage to get through the day, and I was not permanently paralyzed by the tumor, so it's all just part of daily life at this point.:annoyed:

My dad mangled his back in his early 20's working on the railroad. He lived the next 60 years with various back pain. I'm at 16 years now. Fortunately, most of the time, it's just a constant dull ache, and I can ignore it. But on days when I do yard chores, it can take a few days before I fully get over the extra added pain. I have thought of buying stick in Bayer (makers of Aleve).

However, as I said, it could have been so much worse. I could have been paralyzed permanently by the tumor. It took doctors about a week to determine what was wrong with me, then they removed the tumor a couple days later. It took another 2-3 weeks before I could walk on a walker / crutches, and about 2 months to be able to walk unsupported. For the rest of my life, I will never not be keenly aware that every step I take is a gift. I'll gladly trade pain for being able to stand and walk (mostly) normally. Life is all about perspective.

I have a note in my locker that a former coworker and cancer patient left me.
"There are no bad days. Some are just better than others". She passed about a year ago.
Everyday working in the ICU I'm reminded that at least I am on this side of the door.
Y'all have a good day today!

Yesterday was about as nice weather as it gets. So. I gotta do something. My 210,000+ mile Tacoma needs an oil change. No biggie...'cept Fer a half blind guy who can't hardly walk.

Well...things went well. Start to finish, about 30 minutes. Good to feel productive , even if on a small scale.

My dad always said you should always try to see the bright side in everything. Here's what I've figured out
Cancer sux. But it teaches you a lot about yourself.

Exactly! Like I said, life is all about perspective.

View Point A: I am no longer in pain. Because I am either dead, or paralyzed and can't feel anything from mid-chest on down.

View Point B: I hurt all the time, but I can get out of bed, walk and do most things I could before age 40 (when my tumor appeared).

I'll take View Point B :fistbump:

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
At least I had a lot of fun creating my back pain...dirty bikes, skiing, trampolines, offroad racing. Glad your tumor surgery turned out a lot better than it could've.

Did a front brake job (pads and rotors) and restored the headlights on the kid’s Xterra. Used Cerakote brand restoration kit - we’ll see how it holds up. Brakes still had life but there was a strong shudder in the steering wheel when stopping. Found a frozen slider and warped rotors. Had to push myself to do it but got er done. Kid comes first.

Went to the grocery store to pick up the order. Wife wanted 4 bananas but ended up with 4 bunches . Back to the store I went to return 3 of the bunches. Not like we needed about 8-10 pounds of bananas.

My knees and back are barking now.
