Hi Guys, I was on the freeway today on the Long beach freeway (710) and saw a second gen with a very nice rack. I couldn't see the brand but I saw that it had a mountain design at the rear on the side. The design was carved into the metal.

Mountain? All I can think of is Spod but they don’t make racks.

pretty sure it has more capacity than prinsu due to thicker metal which is why it costs more

Um, you may have that backwards, however you may have been correct in regards to an old prinsu design.

    Prinsu 600 dynamic - 1000lb static load

    Sherpa 400 dynamic - 700lb static load

I guess so. I think Sherpa was stronger and 1/4” vs 3/16”. Maybe things changed recently?

got mine on a lucky rare eBay find used for cheaper so it didn’t make much of a difference and not running anything crazy on it

    pros and cons to each.

-Sherpa = rubber pad mounts, no silicone
-Prinsu = option of nice looking fairing decal
    -both have accessory options
    -different looks
-both lack a drop down toggle lightbar fairing like what caliraisedled came up with

Sherpa came out with sport rack that is thinner and not as strong as grand Teton for lighter duty at a lower cost

others like Prinsu (possibly old style if there is one?) seem more common and more findable on the used market for lower price

Smart for them since it seems like most people with one of these 80/20 racks on their “rig” don’t actually put anything up there and just going for the look.

I only say it's a new style because Prinsu changed the Extruded Metal Tubing design. Other than that, it looks similar to the old style. That may be where you got your information from, based on the old crossbar style. I have the old style crossbars but I'm not loading down the top with something heavy like an RTT for example.

I think they did change it. Just looked this up. According to the pictures here, it looks much beefier and different styling

    https://prinsu.com/product/prinsu-pro-toyota-tacoma-roof-rack-2005-2023/

    says increased load capacity
    • All new crossbar that is 44% strongerIMG_3466.jpg IMG_3467.jpg IMG_3468.jpg

Shut, I think you are right, This is the one that I saw. Wondering whats the dynamic load capacity.
This is pretty much the same price as the old Prinsu. I need it to carry heavy things on a twisty road so I like the new Pro Prinsu but the 4 weeks wait kills me, I need it for next week...(Work)

After some reading I learned that doesn’t matter how much weight the rack holds dynamically, the weight is limited by the Tacoma roof and that’s 165LBS
I think I’ll get the RCI, way cheaper than the new prinsu and faster turn around
