March 16, 2024 - Philly Cheesesteak Meetup

I'm leaving Dover about 9am and should put me there 1.5 hrs later...shooting for 10:30am.

I want to get a cheesesteak as soon as Dalessandro's opens.

The parking lot shouldn't be too full.

 

I've lived an hour from Delaware for almost twenty years, I've only driven there three times since April 2021, and two of those times were in my truck. The first time was with my boss in a company minivan while driving to Maryland, and we stopped at that huge rest stop in Newark.

 

I'll park in this area near the goal post and flag down early attendance seekers!

I don't spend too much time in New Castle County...well, except Wilmington now that our daughter & her hubby live there.

My time spent is at Delaware Beaches: Lewes/Rehoboth/Dewey

Lots of out-of-staters have to leave super early whereas I can leave at 7am and travel 48 miles south to Dewey...my favorite beach.

We head to PA for trips to Whole Foods and Kennett Square...but lately, not so much.

We're busy these days and our adventure treks are far and few...but we will get out more in the coming months.

 

And Delaware is good for its cheap booze and lack of a sales tax!

 

Well, there's that!

Christiana Mall gets lots of out-of-state customers.

 

But Delaware also has stupid car inspections. It seems like a lot of the most desirable states to live in have car inspections of some sort.

The only two states I'd move to that don't have car inspections are Florida and Oklahoma...

 

Wife has 2017 Elantra...it had a 5 year registration...her first renewal did not require inspection in 2022...she's due in July this year.

I have a 2021 TRD Sport and a 7 year registration...I'm good until 2028.

 

How much does it cost to register?

 

Renewal Registration is $40/yr...so this last time in 2022 was $80.

 

All that and you're still going to give them your business?

 

Busiest Apple Store in the country from what I’ve heard. That Cabela’s is also very nice.


Someone mail me a cheesesteak, please. Maybe I’ll eat Charley’s tomorrow just to feel cool.

 

I expect to arrive around 11:30'ish. Traffic on 76 being the probable issue.

A Philly friend of mine told me (earlier this week) about construction on I95 being redirected to I76...or vice versa. lol (on my memory)

It looks like a beautiful day is in store...weather wise...I washed my truck last night, even though it was drizzling & I did not shammy dry her.

Got my storage tub in the back seat with items I intend to sell...should leave within the hour.
