    That's just mean.

Last time I was at a Toyota dealership we were test driving a RAV4. It wasn't even a nice trim, it was just a base model. I commented that their 7500 market adjustment on top of a 1200 floormat package was a little excessive for a mediocre SUV.

I'll never forget the response. Exact quote. "Whether it's you or whether it's the next guy, this car is moving today." Said with a shrug and a blatant give-no-fucks tone.

I made an immediate u-turn right there and then and responded with a "well good luck with the next guy. Thanks for your time."

Sales guy didn't even bother trying to continue the conversation. I wish I could make commission for being half as lazy as that.

They have 96 month loans now. Half of all buyers pay more than $1k a month. I saw a few paying $2500-3k a month for suburbans and grand wagoneers. Total financed over the term was around $260k for a $80k vehicle. Criminal.

    Somebody lost touch with reality.
    $67085 for a disposable product?
Those add on prices only make this worse.
I don't begrudge anybody buying a vehicle but I get sick of hearing this is the new normal.
It will be if people keep doing this.

Absolutely is 100% made up. Used to work in car business, most a bank will lend is typically 130% of invoice or MSRP (lender dependent) before TTL. 325% of value is absolutely made up, no doubt about it.

I recently purchased a Rav4 for my wife, looked at new ones and almost new. Seeing those two values side by side (new vs 2 yrs old) was a stark reminder of the value hit I'd be taking. Settled on a nice low mi off-lease example for 30% less. I used to be the guy with a new truck every 4 or 5 years, I decided to quit financing cars a number of years ago and I attribute that and a couple other changes to becoming 100% debt free.

I considered financing this vehicle until I discovered the credit union I've been with for 40 years has gotten greedy also. They dinged my credit score from 830 to 760 for not having any debts going back a number of years despite having a 6 figures invested through them. THe credit score at my bank is still over 800 but Their rates sucked also. That score change equated to almost a full point higher rate than the CU's advertised rate despite zero change in financial worthiness. After letting them know what I thought of their practices I paid cash for the car and got a discount from the seller on top of the listing price. Not financing will further erode my credit score but it's no big loss when that's the playing field. I've got the cash to purchase my vehicles outright and after seeing the bs going on in the credit industry I won't finance another. Not trying to brag, it took work, time and some doing without to get debt free, but after reaching that point much better financial options open up to those who aren't sending a large chunk of their income to a car finance company.

No surprise people are getting fed up with some of the greedy business practices, you can see it today the real-estate industry and even McDonalds has taken a noticeable hit in sales with their latest price increases. No skin off my back if someone wants to pay extra, I'll be the guy walking up with cash to buy one of those low mi poor financial decisions after the first owner realizes they're in over their head. It doesn't take a financial wizard to know paying a premium over list is a poor financial decision and I've no doubt it's a factor in the record number of auto repos going on right now.

Some of us poors need to finance a vehicle.
A lot of times it makes more financial sense to finance a vehicle for X amount of interest % if you can keep your own money in an investment that is making more than X interest %.

You can get a Lexus 550 Overtrail for $66,540. (not OTD). Tows over 9,000---just get a trailer for truck stuff. Tacoma prices are crazy.

You're correct, esp with new vehicles when offered with low interest rates. I started out as an e4 in the military, stayed for 22years. I would easily be considered "a poor" for most of that time and always had to finance my vehicles. If someone sucks it up for the period of the loan paying it off and resisting the urge to run out a replace it as soon as it's paid off you might be amazed how the lack of car payment improves someone's financial situation. I was no different then most, I lusted after the newest vehicles and bought them. Financing is the only way many of us can own an fairly new vehicle. Took me years and allot of interest before I got over the urge to have the latest hardware and was in a position to handle vehicle purchases differently.

Ever owned one? $60K is a downpayment on never ending repair. If you have $60K to spend on "not Tacoma," do yourself a favor and get a Land Cruiser or a Lexus and a trailer.
