Looking at the weather in moab it looks like pretty light rain today so hopefully not a ton of mud. I'll ask around when I get there, today's focus is Monument Valley and moki Dugway anyway, so not sure when I will be rolling in.

Awesome job Maxx! It feels good to help animals and you went above and beyond. Thankfully there are still people (like you) who care.

I am going to give my two 7-week old foster puppies some pets in tribute to your efforts

That still gets slick. Take time and enjoy the views. Hopefully the rain keeps the dust down and light wind. At the top of of the Moki Dugway take a left to Muley point. Quick view point. Worth it

For folks with 5th gen 4Runners, is anybody running a 2.5-3 inch lift? If so, can you take measurements from the hub to bottom of the fender for me?

Muley point was no go, it was raining like hell and that road was a bog! :crapstorm:

I gave it a try but I got to a point where I could plow forward slowly but no steering. So I cut the wheel and just plowed till I grabbed and got turned about 90 degrees, got into reverse and backed up to get 180, then plowed towards dry land again.

Good thing it poured on the way into Moab, not much of that left on the truck!:p

Hopefully on the way back then? The Moki is pretty hard pack gravel should have been ok. If you want a few camp spots around there on way back. Let me know. I know of a few easy to get to with nice views.
    @cookiedough knows them as well.

Yeah the Moki was fine. The sign for Muley did say "impassable when wet" and they weren't lying!

I mean I'm sure with some mud slingers on there I'd have been fine. But I've got wildpeak ATs which are OK in mud but nothing compared to a proper M/T.

Now today is figuring out what is or isn't gonna be muddy as hell in MOAB... Sky is still overcast as the sun is coming up, but some trail guides I'm reading say most of those trails should still be passable. One trail I wasn't planning on does say its switchbacks are toast per the park website.

Was looking to update it this morning and RepeaterBook.com has a wiki on it now.

    https://www.repeaterbook.com/wiki/doku.php?id=gpx

I realized the last link I shared had EVERYTHING in it - From 10M to 1200MHZ. Not just 2/70 so when I update mine I'm slimming it down. I've also determined that I'm not loading every 2/70 repeater in my programming any more. I only load repeaters that are:
    1. Wide Area Coverage
    2. Linked
    3. Emergency Power
    4. Affiliated with Public Services like ARES / RACES / SAR / CERT / OEM / AZ-DEMA.

This strategy cuts down on scanning time and frees up memory slots for other stuff like police / fire / ems / wildfire monitoring (NOT TRANSMITTING). It also keeps me from seeing a repeater that's 10 miles away and thinking I'm all good but it's just a backyard repeater that no one listens to or monitors. That way I'm not calling Mayday on a useless system.

I'm an admin for Arizona and I can tell you that we have AZ standing tall and looking sharp! Hyper accurate listings. Surrounding states like Nevada and New Mexico need help. They have repeaters not updated / validated in 10 years in some cases. My side hustle has been helping them out so I could pull GPX listings for the areas surrounding AZ. Probably not going to happen any time soon.

Which trails ya thinking? Fins N Things and Hells Revenge should be fin. But a few spots can be slick even on the bypasses. Just air down. 10-15psi.
Mickeys Tub and Escalator should be fun to watch people play in.

Fins and things was maybe a bit much after a rain. I did the south loop and I did get through the harder trail but oof, got stuck once, got out of it, then bashed my tow hitch and bent the little chain keeper.

More GFC prep before the MT run. Doing shit now before it gets hot. I leaned my lesson last summer with @TailHook not doing that again.

    Its definitely a cool look!

Yeah on Onion creek at the very top I was behind a Tundra and where the road straightens out it was just slop. He was slipping side to side, I was just kind of pinballing through his ruts, mud was going EVERYWHERE.

    20240317_114105.jpg

Also stopped to take a leak and noticed mud prints... oh wait, those are giant danger kitty paw prints! That was an exciting pee break, to say the least.
