Yes, this can be an issue on the 3rd gens as well. Mine started to seize up and loudly creak after only 2 years. Lube fixed it. I lube the hinges regularly as a preventative maintenance item.

Weird that my 2008 works like new however my sons 2012 creaks like a casket opening in a horror movie (wd40 doesn't help any more)

I'm excited to run these Kumho Road Venture AT52's. 255/75/17LT.

Any trouble with the plus nuts? How about side curtain airbag clearance or drill bit issues when drilling? I've been thinking about putting one of these on my AC for years and every time I'm ready to pull the trigger I read (or probably re-read) some horror story.

For the plus nuts i just went painfully slow, continuously checking so nothing was over torqued. i got lucky, my 06 doesn’t have any curtain airbags thankfully. but i used drill bit stop collars to ensure i wouldn’t go too deep. started at 1/8 and went up to 3/8. Nothing about this job was “hard” just tedious and high stakes. I used RTV after each step ensuring the whole setup was water tight. I think you should do it man. just take your time and it’ll be great!

D&F tranny. Easiest thing I've done to this truck yet. 2015 4cyl auto a340e w/ dipstick

Drained almost 4 quarts of black cherry red fluid, put in almost 4 quarts of cherry fluid. New plug gasket/washer, 15 ft/lbs torqued - no lights on dash, fill is spot on. Shifts smooth as hell, kinda amazed me a bit

Next up is the diff w/ the next earl chg

Post scriptage: got a box of 6qt from local yota dealer for the T-IV roughly $40

Just traded in my 2010 TRD sport for a Lexus IS350 F. My truck did me and my wife an amazing job for the last 12 years I owned it. I drove through 6hrs of the PA snow storm last weekend to Pittsburgh for the trade in. So definitely a great last hoorah. She got us both to the hotel safely.

I made sure to give her a great thank you.

But I'm happy to welcome our new friend to our home.

That’s a beautiful Lexus. I got my wife a 2019 Camry XSE years ago, but I think her next vehicle will be that. Congratulations on your purchase!

Thank you. The ride back from PA was definitely more comfortable than in the truck out there. They did an amazing job with the same 3.5l V6 that's in the tacos.

Made a replacement fender liner. This is my 4th set I've made. The ABS gets pretty brittle in cold so they break snow wheeling. I've learned now to do each as 2 pieces so when it breaks I only have to replace the broken section but I've gotta find a better material to use.

I knocked out the driver side ball joint, I checked the passenger side wheel for play. I tightened up the control. How ever, it would seem the tie rod is at the end of its life. OEM is like $200 per side. I think I’ll just stick to a Napa brand for $100
