Lucky? If you look at the annualized decade return charts for the S&P 2010-20 was about average. Meaning you may think you just got "lucky" with the timing but your gains would have been close to the same no matter what decade you used the get rich slow strategy in.

Old saying it's not how do I time the market, it's time in the market.

That Covid dip was painful to experience, but a beautiful buying opportunity

at 25 life was just starting for me, knew nothing of the stock market until late 2020. I also always feel like the market is going to come crumbling down one of these days. I just don’t see how it can keep climbing.

I was luck enough to refi under 3% (2.99 lol) but since then the insurance agencies are raping Louisiana home owners. I really don’t see how people are making it here. If I hadn’t received a 50% raise in 2021 we would be out on the street looking for a trailer home. That 50% raise saved us. Our home insurance went up 25% in 2022 and 72% in 2023 and now my escrow has a 2.8k shortage that was determined by the lenders analysis. So now my monthly note went from 1200 to 1575….there goes our plans of sending the kids to private school

Of course I bought because I heard they were going to get this deal. Only to find out it was never going to happen. Smh

I was wondering why INTC didn’t have more of a push upwards when the news came out they’d get money.

Is there anyway to track what they do? I want to follow. Otherwise I’ll be patient with my index funds like the rest of everyone else.

Ok. Finally long term. Trailer set on all my $Bnku. If it touches $25 today I'm out.

I'll sit on the $$ for a bit. This week has a stench to it.

side note cross post. Great food this weekend.

    Yeah.
I just spectate this thread for the most part. I'm not really a gambler outside of nickel-ante poker. My sense of gambling is putting my 401(k) in the 2035 fund, which is a bit beyond when I actually expect to retire.

I do wish I had started maxing my 401(k) earlier. Now I can do catch-up contributions and have that maxed out as well. But that's still not going to be enough. I'm glad to have stock as part of my compensation to fill the gap, but you can't beat having the pre-tax benefit.

Thanks for the Arnold "self-made man" reference, good message. I consider myself lucky as well, but there's always been some give-and-take along the way, helping others and getting help from others. Some people you help will forget, but most won't, and I try not to forget those that have helped me in some way. Don't burn any bridges that don't need to be burned (my wife is the queen of burning bridges, but she also crosses some she probably shouldn't have).
