I have a couple of days off next week, the weather looks fantastic, so I was thinking of a solo drive up the Squamish FSR, eat a sandwich, get some fresh air, maybe fly a drone. See if my handheld can hit the local repeater. You know, just chill.

I am just curious if anyone has been up recently? Have they fixed the road at approx 20 km (completely destroyed by a mud slide back in October 2023)?

Not sure about the road, but I’m sure it will be busy up there with the very nice weather. Snow melt may mean some early run off.

Oh yeah, I avoid it on weekends - I'm going to head up mid-week. I'm scared of crowds.

If I head up I'll take some pics and report back!

Yeah, I’m the same. Weekdays are the best. Love the areas but not the crowds. Seems like since Covid, every dog and their cousin have an off roader wanting to explore the FSR’s in the lower mainland, Squamish/Pemberton, fraser valley and beyond.

LOL - thanks for keeping me honest.

I am heading up tomorrow - probably going to be crowded like heck. Going to check out the Maude Frickert Falls etc. Just a quick jaunt in and out.

    Anyone else been there recently?

Hm... well this might change things a bit... I guess I'll keep an eye out for the water levels tonight...

Last October, a rain storm resulted in a mud slide that totally washed out a section of the FSR (at the 21 km mark).

Ok - a little late, but better than never? My pals and I went up the Squamish FSR, then turned left onto the Elaho FSR at the 28 Km Mark, up to Peaches and Cream waterfall - what a beauty (my first time there). Here's a couple of pics of the Taco while parked at the entrance to the falls.

The FSR was bone dry and clear. No puddles, floods and most importantly, no washouts (like October 2023).

This is my first time on the FSR on a weekend - I was expecting more traffic - lots of people camping (actually, more people were packing up to leave) but I didn't see any yahoo's driving on the FSR today.

I’ve been up there every few months. Camped for New Year’s Eve with my GF at Molson Memorial Site at Peaches and Crème. Love the Squamish valley.

Dumb question - why is it called Molson Memorial Site?

I think its named that after two brothers who died there within a year of each other.

Great pics of your rig. Are sliders essential? I haven’t picked any up yet and most exploring I do I keep saving 2500$. lol

    …. until I don’t. Ahem.

I would consider proper skids (ideally steel) 100% essential followed by sliders being somewhat essential. they are far from 2500 got the RCI sliders direct from them for about 1k USD and installed them myself, no drill & bolt into existing holes (https://rcimetalworks.com/product/2016-tacoma-rock-sliders/)

Thanks - I'm really loving my taco so far (bought it 10 months ago).

I don't think rock sliders are necessary for a forestry road, at least not the main paths on the Squamish, Elaho and Mamquam FSRs. However, once you head down a side trail there might be an inconvenient rock or tree/stump. I also want to try some easy rock crawling too.

I have bolt on Cali-Raised sliders. Have not needed them yet, sort of like an insurance policy, LOL :)
