Rotating Duratracs

Going to do my own tire rotation for the first time. Dealer previously used the Toyota method. Anyone with Duratracs use the crossover method? Or should I just do the Toyota front to rear/rear to front method?

 

Cross is a must, they feather like crazy over time. It's noisy for a day after but it gets better. They feather naturally and it helps reduce it big time.

Also consider adjusting the rear shoes while you're doing the rotation, lots of dealers skip it, and they can be miles out.

 

I've always done the rearward cross.

I thought front to rear was only done for directional tires.

You mean like when someone on the internet says “the manual is the bible”?
I was just seeking others experiences. You don’t have to throw shit at the fan every chance you get.

 

I have C rated Duratracs 265-70-16 with about 30,000 miles on them. I have from new rotated them just front to back with no crossing. They have worn down evenly. Rotated always somewhere between 5000 miles to 7500 miles.
You will get lots of different opinions.
This is just how I’ve done mine.

When I had them on the FJ, I rotated every 2500. Front to back, backs crossed to front.

 

So I'm guessing it's going to be about 50/50 on how to rotate Duratracs. But I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be rotating them every 2500 miles. But hey, if it works for someone else then I don't have a problem with that.

 

60k miles and very little issues
20 minutes of work saved quite a bit of money.

 

20 minutes when I was 25yo. I'm pushing 70. It takes me a little longer than 20 mins to rotate tires. And my tires will probably date code expire before they wear out. I'm mostly trying to keep the noise levels to a minimum.

I rotated my Duratracs every oil change. Doing the same with my Wildpeaks now. More is better!
