Your bias is showing, stock for stock there is nothing to warrant a 4runner over a jeep lol

how many 4 runners from ww2 are still on the road? The fact it'll make a better daily only serves to prove the jeep is a better 4x4

I had a grand cherokee before my yota it was good it lasted 200000 miles for me I sold it to my friend and it is still running. I loved the jeep it was a good suv still is but alot of stupid shit was always going wrong with it dash lights saying coolant sensors bad stuff like that. I tried several times to fix with no luck. The jeep was great but its flaw was being part dodge they make some junky vehicles.

    you mean an m1009 CUCV

I'd personally go with the m1028 trucks, they're locked in back and limited slip up front, rear is 14b and front is the dana 60.. pretty much a bullet proof combo up to 40 inch tires

after 99 chrysler started using worse low pinion axles, and modified the cylinder head design from what AMC designed. Of course they fucked it up and the ones they modified had problems with the head cracking.

The axle thing doesn't really make a difference iirc if you never plan on lifting it at all, and it can be swapped out. And if your head cracks, you can put an older design head on it. Both things are just a relatively expensive pain in the ass when you could have bought a 98 or 99 without any of those problems in the first place.

Hmmmmm.... well I would like to have back my 53 Willys p/u, that damn thing would go anywhere. My 96 Bronco was a real nice rig. I would still like to have a pre-war or early post war Dodge Power Wagon, always liked those. Since you are probably talking what newer or modern vehicle though, if no Taco then maybe a new F150 Super Crew or one of the new Dodge Power Wagons.

There were no 4Runners in WWII (I know you know this, but you are making an apples to oranges comparisson).

The 'Jeep' that was built in WWII was the model MB from Willys-Overland and the model GPW from Ford. Three companies (at least) had produced prototypes for the army to test: American Bantam, Willys-Overland, and Ford. This was after American Bantam delivered the first 'Jeep' type vehicle. The army feared Bantam was far too small to produce the volume they planned on needing.

The first civilian Jeep model in production was the CJ-2a (1945-49), after testing a variation of the MB for non-military and farm use that went by the names 'AgriJeep' or CJ-1. This was followed by about 45 CJ-2 test models from '44 to '45.

You really don't see a lot of WWII MBs, GPWs or CJ-2as... they are collector pieces for the most part... They do stand out besides having flat hood and flat fenders in that those 3 models have a divided (2 piece) windshield (if original). The CJ-3a and next military model (M-38 or MC) had a single piece windshield, but still the flat hood and fenders.

    The First 'Jeeps':

1940 Bantam pilot model... #1, the first Jeep.

1940 Bantam BRC-60 (Mark II) 69 were built.

    Enter Willys-Overland:
1940 Willys Quad (5 were built)

    Enter Ford:
1940 Ford Pygmy (1 was built)

1941 Willys MA (1,553 were built)

    1941 Bantam BRC-40 (2,605 were built)
    ===============================================================

The War begins for the United States, Willys-Overland wins the contest, builds the MB and Ford builds the Willys design as the GPW. Bantam ends up building trailers and torpedo motors during the war.

Before the war ends, Willys-Overland sees a post war market for the Jeep and tests modified MBs for the civilian market.

Toyota and Land Rover were not far behind Willys in making their own 4WDs... based on the Willys Jeep.
