    Fellers, im at a loss.

    07 v6 6speed.
I installed a new Aisin 6 speed from toyota.
    URD heavy flywheel
URD stage 2 clutch/pressure plate kit
    URD short throw kit
    Redline mt90
    New Aisin master (bench bled)
Trans came with new slave installed.

    Now for the issue.

From day one and everyday since I cannot get reverse without going into third first, sometimes a few times.

Randomly it will go from shifting buttery smooth to being "locked out" of every gear but third, and third being slightly crunchy.

When im being "locked out" there is a super loud cluck from the bellhousing area when trying for a gear.

Once I get in third while being "locked out" I can roughly shift through all the gears again and be on my way.

*note I didnt change shift fork, clutch pedal has quite a bit of side to side play, and sits roughly 1/8 inch above MC rod.

What do these poorly explained symptoms sound like to you guys.

Friendly advice... Reword your thread title. Something specific to your truck year and that you have a manual.

Haha, No... Not an offense thing at all. Just might throw people off that it was some how referring to the current 2024 model because everyone is wanting to hear issues they have. If you say what you drive and what the problem is, those who can help are more likely to help out.

Made a short clip of trying to get it into reverse.
While driving it locks me out of other gears too unless I go into third.

Just bled system again, no change.
About to try and get a few turns out of master cyl rod to see if it changes anything.
If it doesnt, I might drop trans today and put in all OE.

LOL. Preciate the bump. My love for manual transmissions is diminishing by the second.

Perhaps the problem is with the short throw kit.

I am just spitballin' here but if it's not actually something wrong with the transmission, it sounds to me like the clutch isn't disengaging enough. When you're in gear, clutch depressed, sitting still, does the truck feel like it's trying to move?
    @gearcruncher , any ideas?

Negative, although every once in awhile if I leave it in first with clutch in, it will shudder and shake some.

I agree with you about it sounding like it isnt disengaging enough.

Well North you might be onto something, took short throw out and I can get reverse without going into third gear first.

Although now I can hear better with console out of the way.
When I press clutch in, I hear a rotating mass slowly come to a stop, then it allows me to go into reverse easily the first time. Roughly 5 seconds wait between clutch to floor and being able to shift. Normal?

About to take it out on a short cruise around the block.

Drive around block. Locked out of reverse at the end.

Just went through the videos .
Did the transmission work fine with the original shifter ?

Next , when you mash your clutch pedal to the floor , you hear the input shaft coming to a stop .
This should happen rather quickly .
Got a stethescope or a long long screwdriver ?
Mash the clutch to the floor while you listen to the input shaft . Place your ear on that long screwdriver and press the clutch pedal down .
The input shaft should stop quickly .
You wont be able to select reverse while the input shaft is still spinning .
This will help you determine if the problem is within the clutch system or the shifter

Its still the same without the short throw unfortunately.

If its the input shaft that im hearing it takes 5 seconds or more to stop.

Clutch in and third selected it stops quickly and other gears can be gone into normally.

Also, thank you for taking the time gear, been many a post ive read of you helping folks.

If you can shift through the gears with the truck shut off , its a clutch issue .

if you still have to select third before going into reverse with the truck shut off , its an interlock issue with the shifter system .
Interlocks prevent two gears at the same time and the detents hold the transmission in the gear you shift into

Thats a large input shaft inside this transmission .
When you hold the clutch down and select third gear , you are slowing the transmission input shaft down using the third gear synchronizer .

You spent a lot of money on aftermarket parts .
How closely did you match them up to the original parts .
Some of these Tacomas came with a Luk clutch from the factory instead of the Aisn .

I seem to remember a difference between the Luk and the Aisn clutch release bearing

Seems you have put me on the trail, shifts as expected with truck off. Interesting bit of diag test there.

Honestly when I bought the truck, master was leaking on the carpet, the TOB was chirping loudly, took it to a shop and was told not only was the TOB chirping but the input shaft bearing was bad. So I loaded the parts cannon with a new trans and "urd fixes" and tossed what was on for scrap without so much as a glance.

Assuming clutch issue, in your experience what would you recommend next?

    I agree .
Seems clutch related at this point .
There is tsb for a replacement clutch pedal that came out
Tightening up some of those wore out bushings under the dash will make the clutch hydraulics work a bit better
Yours has a lot of play in the video .
Try a vacuum bleed Would be.next if the truck was in my shop.
