I find that if I take short little mind breaks, I can concentrate better for longer periods. Like checking TW every once in awhile. Plus, I listen to music or podcasts almost all day.

Alright, I am going to tell you what I did, a long time ago, that helped me to have patience with people. This might be a bit deep and I surely don't expect everyone to agree. Actually, I expect most to disagree with me. Anyway...
A long time ago (maybe 40 years) I had zero patience. I made snap judgements. I pissed off a lot of people. So much so, I ruined relationships.
I thought that the rest of the world had problems, not me!
But one night, I got to thinking about this patience thing. And, I was in one of my "moods" where I was mad at the world, and I blamed everyone BUT me.
That was the start. I decided I would try harder to be patient, because I was very unhappy and I knew this patience thing was part of my problem.
Over the next several months, I thought about how to solve my problem, pretty much every day.
One night I determined there were two types of people in this world - There were "Givers," meaning those who gave everything like, time, love, money, advice, a shoulder to cry on, hugs, love, laughs, etc, without ever expecting anything in return. There are not so many people out there like that. And, there are "Takers." The Takers are those people who think the world owes them something and expect things to be given to them... they take love and don't give it. They take money and think they are entitled to it. They take your time and don't give any back. The Takers are always mad because they just want more of everything and are never satisfied. If you give them a day off they want a week. If you give them $100 they want $500. If you give them a relationship they ruin it because something was wrong with it. If you give them children they neglect them because they are not better children. I call those people the Takers.

So, after figuring this out, I set out to become a Giver, with no expectations of ever getting anything back for my giving. I didn't have much back then to give, except time, so that is what I did. I helped move stuff for my older neighbors. I would weed eat for them, I would help carry their groceries. I would watch their dogs. Whatever I could give, I did. I got married. I set zero expectations for my wife as far as giving. I determined that I needed to give 100% and, if she did anything, it would be a bonus. Fortunately, she became a Giver too! So we set out giving what we could. Time, love, patience, money (where we could) stuff, muscles, basically whatever the rest of the world was willing to take, we gave.
Now, in order to get there, you HAVE to have patience. Most of the world are takers and not a lot of givers. It takes patience, a LOT of patience, to become a giver.
Do people still make me mad? Sure, but I now just smile and move on.
I have spent most of my life giving time and effort to people who don't appreciate it and only want more in return. That's okay. I have patience. I'll wait. But, every now and then you meet another Giver and you smile.

Remember, the world needs people that give with no expectations that someone will return the favor. Give people a chance. Remember, not everyone is like you, so give them the benefit of a doubt.

It took years, but I have lived in mostly peace for a long time. People will ruin your life if you let them. I have a few true friends. I have good kids and a great wife.
What I am describing is not a "give away all your possessions and money" thing. It's not that at all. It is more of a "give people time and effort and don't expect anything" and you will be surprised. This is what I did and it worked for me. I don't have a chip on my shoulder anymore. I don't expect anything from anyone. I don't expect fair treatment. I don't judge. I do my best. I am okay.

Well said and I agree with you. I want to be a giver and I am to some extent. I'm learning to weed out the takers in my life and finding peace with that. I know there will always be takers and we can't control that, we aren't supposed to.

So... giving everyone the "bird" makes me a Giver right?
