That makes sense if he deals with the behind the scenes of it.
I did always think it was dumb they stopped giving land owners a couple free passes. I always just chalked it up to liability though.

nice! i got my finger on the 5.29s from ECGS trigger but the PTSD from the struggle to get my front diff back in with my Tundra rack in the way hasn't gone away yet so still hesitant.

Dude, you did the tundra rack! Wicked! After I recoup from this endeavor, that is next on the list! Who did you go through?

Front diff going in sucks as is. Can’t imagine with the tundra rack in the way. Definitely a two person job.

i bought the rack from Toyo Steering. i stuck with the stock tacoma tie rods so i knew spares would be easy to find but beefed them up the with Warfab tierod sleeves. i did the Tundra rack at the same time as the JD lower control arm pivot kit and had the front diff out so install was pretty easy actually with the aluminum eccentric bushings. getting the diff back in on the other hand...

i carried the weight upward best i could with a floor jack until i got to that point where you have to kinda maneuver it in using an upward zig zag fashion. even with the Tundra rack loose on its bolts and pushed forward there is not even a nut hair worth of clearance and i think i had to drag the diff up the back of the rack until it was somewhat in place and only then there is clearance.

at this point, that memory is the biggest thing holding me back from doing gears. :bananadead:

Wow. I had my wife work the jack and the diff may have been dropped on my head as she was learning how to use it. Pro tip, teach your shop hand how to use the tools before throwing them into it. Haha.

I’m not sure if it would help to remove the diff tube? May be able to get some different angles to get it in? Either way it’s an awkward shape and even worst angle trying to “zig zag” it in. Honestly that “zig zag” analogy is the best way to describe it.

I will say though gears will be worth it. Highway driving and slow speed crawling. With my 4.88’s it made the truck enjoyable to drive again.
