Somebody from a dealership said that the shutter was the reason for the quality control hold. Not sure if it’s true but it seems plausible.
It’s funny how the dealership took back the 3rd gen loaner they gave the guy because of the recall on that truck too.

    Yeah.
Anyone else see the irony in the truck being parked in a spot marked University and the guy can't spell "shutter" correctly? Is there any hope?

I also noted when he was driving around in the second "rental" he was on the right side of the truck.
Is this a video recording reversal thing due to the front selfie camera of a cell phone?

Yeah that’s from using selfie mode. It’s annoying.

I replaced a 73 Ford Pinto (rear end firetrap recall!) with a 76 VW Rabbit.
At the time, the Rabbit was a huge upgrade. It had already had the injectors changed, which was part of some recall to improve reliability and cylinder chugging? I do not remember exactly. For me? I loved that VW. Fluorescent Yellow. It never let me down. Until it rusted out. It was replaced with a 1980 Celica hatchback.

Dan, I used to gas up that VW (and like the Datsun) with about $2.50 for the gallon, and it would make the drive from East L.A. to Huntington Beach, and back. Good times in that car.

I bought a new Rabbit in 1983 with the manual trans. It had two rare options. Sandstone metallic paint and power steering. Seventy-four horsepower. The GTIs were 91 hp then. I dropped in a GTI cam, a Neuspeed throttle body and a fuel enrichment circuit. They were so easy to work on and parts were so cheap. That's what made it fun. I bought all the OEM parts from the dealer to install the GTI center console and it totaled $40. The only problem I ever had with it was water intrusion into the back up light switch on the trans. It would cause the back up lights to stay on. So I bought a new one and sealed the edges of the plastic switch. Problem solved.

That’s way cool. You’d think the difference in hp’s wouldn’t make that much a diff. But they was quick!

I had an '82 RX-7. We would autocross on Sundays when the malls were closed. The Rabbits would always go around tight corners on 3 wheels.

The "German Salute". My wife's '16 GTI 6 speed is a blast to drive, but not for more than an hour.
