That’s fair, do you happen to know much about the Toyo R/T Trail? Struggling to find people who use the R/T Trail as opposed to the standard R/T. I’ll be sure to look into other options than SPC for the UCA!

I know very little about the RT trail. No negative internet comments from what I have found so far. I run a Duratrac right now and where I live, the Duratrac/RT trail is the least aggressive tire Id run. Need the mud and snow/ice capabilities of the Duratrac and its weight is icing on the cake. not sure how good the RT trail is in the snow/ice yet

I went to the shop and I have a pretty similar setup. 16x8 -12 w 295/75/16 and JBA on a 3.5" dobinsons suspension lift and they couldn't get me past 3.5 caster.

    Maybe just a bad shop?

Adjust the caster yourself, then go to the alignment shop and tell them you just want a toe and go alignment.

Some guys max out around 3.5. I was able to hit 4.5. Maybe ask to confirm your results after driving it a week. Usually comes with a warranty.

Alot of truth there. Considering you can get 35's at a the same weight as a 295 baja boss I don't see how that can ever be an option.
Same notes for spc mine lasted 8k before everything was worn out and clunking.

I’ll be looking into the R/T Trail then. Found a few people who have run them and so far no complaints. Love the weight. What UCA do you run? Not too familiar with UCA’s so I’m looking into it pretty heavily.

I have dirt kings now. They have a bit more caster built in than I would like for maximum clearence but I have had no issues with my 295's on -25 wheels

Yeah, they got 3.5 on one side and 1.8 on the other. Should have known better. This place has given me issues in the past

I finally upgraded to 295/70/17 from 285. I went with Nitto Ridge grapplers, which I had previously as well.

There is a thread comparing the R/T trail to the baja Boss AT. Several owners mentioned the R/T trail was a very poor snow/ice tire. It seems that there is a reason they aren't rated.

Agreed, the weight should be a deal breaker for most. There 35s/beadlock packages around the same weight as 295 baja bosses and aftermarket cast wheels. another member mentioned he lost 3-4 mpg as he went from a 60lb package to a 105lb wheel/tire package.

I completely believe that. 105lbs like mounting fat albert to the hub and hoping for the best. Un-sprung, rotational, weight is 8x its numerical weight. So that dude added 45lbs of weight past the hub means he actually added 360lbs of weight to the truck PER WHEEL AND TIRE. Multiplying that x4 (you know, cause trucks have 4 wheels and tires) means that he added 1,440lbs of weight to a truck that is underpowered from the factory, not to mention the GVWR that has now been exceeded.

Your math all checks out but last I checked unsprung rotational mass doesn't exceed gvm. Yes it's additional strain on the brakes/ball joints, but chassis wise that weight is not felt from a payload perspective. I have a 295 set up with a load that exceeds gvm after passengers and have not had any notable issues regarding braking performance. Feel it a fair bit under acceleration. Lost 4L/100km on average

Side note 295's are back on with a little extra pizzazz now.

But also, your geolanders are 65lbs a tire I believe. Thats pretty light for a 295 MT in an E load. Point is, you gotta pay to play.. but just be smart when you play.
