It looks like there is a 2001 and a 2002 XL-7 at the pick and pull where I'm at.
1.) What are the chances that the alternators are still available? (No record of how long they have been there)
2.) The yards prices are about $25 for an alternator, is it even worth it to get them if they are 20+ years old?
I'm trying to decide if a trip is worth it or if the Rockauto route is more reliable. Anyone else have input on finding their 105A denso from a salvage yard?

I'd just get a new one from Rockauto.

Does anyone know if Denso’s 105A rating is peak or at idle? A local alternator company sold me this unit as a direct replacement for 210-0461, but the description on the test sheet says 80A… Looks like 80A at approximately engine idle speed and close to 105A at cruising speed (report is at alternator RPM, not engine RPM).

is this a comparable unit or lesser than? Thank you!

I just ended up returning it and ordering the Denso, I like supporting local businesses but no sense in not getting exactly what I want.

my current alternator has a idle voltage of 14.2 but when i turn on anything it plummets to 13.0 and all the lights dim...does this new 105A alternator fix the issues under load?

also the rectifier should limit the voltage produces, yet allow more amperage to flow as needed when the load in increased. so I don't think a larger alternator would cause any issues. id really love to be able to get a 140A in there without paying 450$ from LCE.....

why cant we fit the new gen alternators in our cars? has to just be physical geometry and such right?

this post right here has me worried this 105A alternator is a placebo affect and no more than an 80A at idle where most of us are experiencing our issues. regardless I ordered one and ill report back my concerns and review on this...…there isn't much feedback here after its installed which I guess no news is good news right?

You could have an alternator rewound to increase output at low rpm, or shift to a smaller pulley to achieve the same. Just make sure the peak rpm is still in spec (divide pulley diameter of the crabk pulley by alternator pulley diameter and multiply by peak engine rpm).

Has anyone purchased a Denso Alternator recently? I'm looking at RockAuto and the only options list for the 105amp is a remanufacturer for the 2.7L V6 Grand Vitra, all the old links appear to be dead. I'm looking to add in a large house battery for a cabover camper shell so this is the first time I've really looked in to alternator upgrades.

Usually they are rated at peak, usually around 2500-3000rpm

well I got the alternator, and have not gotten the wires to do the big 3 yet, but as fate would have it my stock one went out today, so switching in the 105 amp. Have read in this thread that it will smoke the wires if I dont do the big 3. Have also read many do not. So hopefully can get by without, mines a 2001 also have a 2017 in the family

also, wonder in the future....if people order a rebuilt for their suzuki...and they get one with no threads ( from a mod turned in for a core charge). They wont be too happy

I switched to the 105 amp and have stock wires. No issues yet, but the big 3 is in the shopping cart....

so its in and working, and under full load ( everything on) it kept the volts up. The hardest part for me was getting the stab bolt for the tensioner aligned. I must have bumped that arm and got the holes out of alignment....that or maybe this alternator is a bit bigger.

Hi, guys. I have a 1997 2.4L 2RZ. Based on this post, I went ahead and bought this Denso model off of Amazon. When it came it, there were several surprises. The sticker on the unit did have the desired part number - 210-0461
However, I expected the post to have a different orientation to my stock one. It did not. It was in the exact same orientation.
I expected to have to bore out the ear hole - but did not have to - my bolt screwed right into it.
Those surprises were weird, but not showstoppers.
    The last surprise was.
Thankfully, before I did all the work installing it, I took a close look at the pulley. The one that had been on my engine had 4 ridges. The 210-0461 only had three. My belt wouldn't work and it didn't match any of the other pulleys on my engine.
I tried to swap pulleys, but the shafts are shaped differently, so that wasn't possible. I thought I would stop screwing around while I was still ahead and had a returnable alternator!
This is my first time messing with this engine, so I don't know what the hell's going on. Any thoughts?
Did my engine come with the wrong alternator and somebody changed all the pulley to fit it?
Or did Amazon send me a misnumbered part?

Somebody swapped alternators and returned it.
My first one from Amazon had a CarQuest sticker on it, not Denso.
Returned it, bought another and got the right one.

I’m pretty sure the 4 cylinders use a different alternator from the V6, so this mod shouldn’t work for any 4 cylinder trucks.

I swapped a Jaguar XJ6 alternator into my 3rz and just used a harness to adapt to the stock plug.
