not sure how long the frost will last where you are, but down here its only supposed to be a couple hours of possible frost and the local gardening group on fb is full of grannies showing off their covered plants. those grannies get creative when it comes to covering their favorite plants. i also heed their advice when it come to gardening, they've been doing it longer than i lol

My wife has been wanting a little greenhouse for a while for seed starting and maybe wintering her lemon tree. Just got it together still figuring out heat for winter. She had some shade cloth coming it gets hot during the day.

I threw a sheet over my one blueberry bush as it looked like some flowers were starting to bud.

Heat: Blue plastic barrels, filled with water. They will absorb sunlight during the day and give out heat at night.
Or, since it is close to the house, run a 12 ga extension cable and put in the heater, with thermostat.

That’s in the plans. I put the big blue slates in floor for some thermal mass but I am going to run an outlet in for a small heater with thermostat. Probably get a propane heater for back up in case of power outage

We got potatoes in the ground. 43 plants. Will try my parents' technique to increase the yield.

Onions survived the winter and are looking good. Nectarines, apricots and almost all of blueberries finished blooming. Blackberries are about to bloom.
One pear tree bloomed, two others not yet. Apples have not bloomed yet. Figs are about to leaf out.
    Plums finished blooming.

May put kale and lettuce in the ground this weekend. Need to refrigerate the garlic and then get it into the ground.

    Tulips should open up today.

We are zone 8A. On the flip side I cannot get cherries to grow, since it does not get cold low and long enough. And we have to REALLY stay on top of watering in the summer.

Put your plants in frames, ie low raised beds, with old windows, creating mini green houses.

Not figs. What we call a fig fruit is actually a fig flower.
    Not dates.
A native North American plant. Grows from MN to FL.

You win. Yep. Paw-paw. This one is hybrid. Full native is just budding.
