    Well enough to get the job done but it’s not impressive at all. Slow to accelerate, underpowered and overall just lethargic in my opinion. The new engine should improve on all those factors.

    I have no doubt the extra horsepower, torque and gearing will help for a lot of applications. The towing thread in the 3rd gen forum is interesting. Most people understand what the Tacoma is good enough for. Most.

    My 2nd gen seems to get the job done as long as you know the limits. “Man’s got to know his [tacoma’s] limitations.”

    It tows 80% of its towing capacity just fine? Yeah it will rev, so will the v8

    Nearly identical with a Sport MT, just three years newer. It’s a combination of 6000’ MSL and a recognizing that it leaves a lot to be desired. The Tacoma isn’t dangerous by any means when towing, just not that good either.

    Ah. I’m nowhere near 6000’ MSL. So that makes sense, no issues driving mountain passes up here.
