Removable boxes under front bumper what are they for

I am sure that you guys have the answer for this.

That is the bumper.

 

On my 2014 there are two removal boxes under the front bumper. does any one know what they are used for

 

Other than lights everything on the front of your vehicle is there to absorb energy in a crash.

 

If you modify your lights and grill, it also absorbs cash.

 

You talking about the radiator crossmember end pieces?

 

My best guess is to prevent a foreign object from ramming into that tie rod, not far behind it.?
I recently removed mine and capped the ends.

Are you talking about the two extrusions that poke out in front of the wheels? One on the far left and one on the far right? Those are the only thing that I think you could be describing without a picture. As far as I know, they are merely decorative and only serve to keep large debris from entering the forwardmost crossmember. Unless you are putting on a plate bumper, you can leave them alone.

Pictures would be helpful but maybe previous owner was smuggling something? I found a pelican box bolted to the underside of my ‘93 pickup, undercoated and everything. When I opened it it still smelled like weed.
