i'm quite happy with my single din.

it works, looks cheap enough no one fusses with it, and steering wheel controls do what they're supposed to, which is far more than any vehicle i've ever had before...

whoa! is that an 8 track tape player?!

    j/k!!

I’m actually installing a Joying unit soon. Seems like the tech and versatility of an Android 12 head unit will be a great upgrade from my Entune 2.0 unit. Mainly will use carplay, but love the versatility of adding other apps as I find more use for them. I’ll try to document the install…

OP is your dash unit one of those with an SD nav chip slot? There was a point in the life of my truck where I hit a solid jolt on a desert road - and the stupid chip backed out. It provoked a fit by the head unit, that continued until I got it in and re-seated. Where upon all sorts of odd things it had begun to do with regularity quit occurring. Eventually the crap came back - and finally the chip died - popped out and wouldn't re-seat. Being robbed by a Toyota dealer isn't in my DNA - so I bought a cheapie chip through Amazon. Amazing - things went back to "normal" and have stayed that way for about 18 months so far.
This doesn't result in cool new features like you can get with an upgrade unit - but it has proven to be economical.

Sorry but no. I'm an engineer in the fuel management and storage side of the Nuclear Power Industry. Not nearly as fun as I assume Disney would be, but everyday, I get to design/invent solutions that didn't exist before.

I ordered Sony replacement from Trail Grid Pro.IMG_8024.jpg They have different sizes and models. I wanted smaller flush fit. I was after wireless CarPlay. It’s all plug and play, and all controls work except for navigation display in instrument cluster. I also ordered aftermarket screen protector.

Yes. Up until recently, about once or twice a month, I'd see a message that the SD data was unreadable. Now, the navigation function doesn't work at all.

To close this out . . . I went cheap(ish). I ended up buying an Entune3.0 off eBay. I opted for one that did not include the navigation module, and from the pictures, it looks like it came out of a wrecked Prius. I also purchased a wiring adapter from: https://www.autoharnesshouse.com/entune.html.

Bottom line, it works fine. Getting it to fit however took some effort. I had to drill new holes in the Tacoma brackets from the Entune2.0 unit to fit the correct tapped holes in the Entune3.0 enclosure. The Entune3.0 has the electronic enclosure flush to the bottom edge of the display screen whereas the Entune2.0 has the bottom of the electronics enclosure about 3/4" up from the bottom edge of the display screen. I had to trim about 3/8" off the bottom of the plastic inner dash so the Entune3.0 sat low enough for the 4 bolts to align.

Do you have the DVR-C320R? Would love to see a pic of it installed. I just added a ILX-507.
