This job was pleasantly simple to do. Just took my time and went slow. Fresh set of Denso injectors from Motorwest and some OEM gaskets.

I did that same job in my apartment parking lot. X2 for MotorWest.

Are injectors worth doing if you aren't having any significant issues with them?
Only thing that may be improved that I know of with my truck is a quicker hot start, truck cranks a few extra times when hot and I've heard that may be the injectors. Not that big of a deal to me though..
I'm putting new heads on so the intake manifold is off and they are just sitting there, so now would be the time to do it, but at $300 I don't want to just throw money at them for no reason? 290k and original as far as I know..

A lot of guys start having issues with them when their trucks get up in that mileage range. If it were me and I was that far in I'd do them as preventative maintenance and know you're good for another 290k.

Once they start to get clogged or otherwise act up, it seems many people waste a lot of time and money chasing easier other possible causes (MAF, plugs, coils, plug wires, TPS, IAC, O2 sensors, etc). $300 (actually only $150 I believe) now will prevent that whole headache. I think Motorwest will refurbish all 6 for $25 a piece (so $150 total).

Yeah thats definitely not a bad call.. Are they quick on turning the injectors around? I leaning towards just buying a new set to not delay the project another couple weeks. If all goes well I could have the truck back together and running by the end of this coming weekend. The gf is getting tired of me taking up the whole garage with the truck torn apart for the past month :pout:.

5-0 Motorsports sells 5VZ injectors as well, if you want to get right back to assembly. Motorwest also has their black ones for like $350

Are the black ones worth the upgrade over the reconditioned OEM?
These are what I was looking at https://motorwestperformance.com/product/mp210-6pack-l1/

Is there a chance my butt dyno will see a difference over the originals too?

There's very little chance that your butt dyno will feel it but you probably will feel a difference in smoothness and maybe a little to response.

I sent mine out to RC injectors last week for cleaning. I had no noticeable issues. I did notice two cylinders were darker that the other two making me think fuel mixtures were slightly different. I'm curious to see the before and after flow tests.

"Touch it once" is my motto when I'm deep into a maintenance item and I'm touching/removing high mileage items or items that are now easy to get to as a result of the main mission.

Since I keep my vehicles a long time, I look at "Touch It Once" as a good return on uptime as opposed to downtime and troubleshooting time.

I did a rattle can rebuild of the flatbed today with some of the first days above 40 almost 70 degrees (Troy Montana). I might have to get some vinyl and wrap the boxes soon.

100% worth it, feel like a new engine after. Granted, I knew I had one injector starting to fail - it would drip a tiny amount of fuel so restarting the engine after an hour or so would take a lot of extra cranking due to the cylinder flooded with fuel. Once it started throwing a random misfire CEL I knew it was time to replace all six since they are all original approaching 190K miles. Motorwest’s black injectors also solves the internal solenoid issue with the original factory ones so that was also a reason I paid more for these.

Any rough hesitation at idle is completely gone. Truck cranks perfectly now on a warm restart. Throttle and power delivery is much smoother, especially climbing inclines at highway speeds.

This was honestly the single most noticeable maintenance improvement I’ve made to the engine. The injectors live up to the hype I’ve read in the reviews.

Btw, if you have long cranks to start because of a leaky injector you can do this trick temporarily - hold down the throttle pedal all the way while you crank and then very quickly let it go. That should help clear out any flooded fuel and it starts a little sooner.

Perry parts front bumpstops got installed. Should have the chance to test these out soon in the desert on some high speed stuff. Hopefully they don't make the ride so nice I start breaking other stuff...

Those don't look like they will last long to abuse to me. Looks like they will split apart after some light abuse along the 3rd printing lines.

I'd look at Durobumps once those die.

The guy that makes them says they should last longer than duros and has a replacement guarantee
