Does anybody live in the Lansing area and have a “chin strap” that is no longer needed? I’ll take it off your hands if you don’t want it

Most wind up in recycling, but it’s worth a try. Come on people, let’s help this guy out.

Mine did not come with one and IMO it looks better without it. It also doesn't really save you much gas unless you're on the highway constantly and even then it is a miniscule amount, if any.

I’ll find one somewhere. I want to tinker with one. I read somewhere it helps with the brine a bit, even though I put like a 1/4 inch of wool wax on the front facing areas; I hate the rust, so much I passed on the sunsetting Mackinac bridge license plate because it looks like rust to me.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
I honestly don't think it would make much of a difference. Wet is wet and it will get there one way or the other. They pre-treat with brine here and throw more salt than anywhere I've seen. It literally makes some ofnthe asphalt look like cement. I get to car wash as soon as I can and spray as much as I can get to. So far so good.

I am actually in for a chin strap too, if you happen to find two.

There are a couple head-scratchers design wise, and the decision to have the front end look like a GMT400 with a 3” body lift is one of them. I’ve seen where guys have cut 1/2 or 2/3 of it off, just enough to cover the frame elements, and it’s not too bad. Would hide those bits (already rusty or not), and maybe cut down on sandblasting of said exposed bits, and maybe, just maaaayyybe, some road spray would be reduced.

I can't imagine it would do much, if anything. Most of the brine that is kicked up is done by the tires and I'd imagine the chin spoiler would have swirling air behind it that would likely pull the mist up higher onto the underbody. But I could also just be talking out my ass on that one.

Actually they were in pretty good shape. I do try and avoid when I know they are going to be muddy

    This chin strap?
I have no attachment to mine. I’m on the south side of Grand Rapids.

It’ll be later in the week. I’m fighting a horrible respiratory infection. Thinking about going to a medical clinic tomorrow.

Although it's only been spring for a day, I'm gonna use the spring time snow as an excuse to bump the Michigan thread lol
