I really dislike the gearbox in mine and I bought it used with high miles. I’m nervous it’s going to blow up on me, getting up on 150k now and I’d rather not deal with fixing it if anything happens. The daily is supposed to be reliable and I just don’t trust the car that much, although I haven’t had any real issues except with the transmission in the past few years I’ve had it.
The gearbox is so notchy.. getting in and out of 2nd is always rough and it gets completely stuck in 6th. I also swear the transmission acts differently every day and the clutch bite point moves. No idea if that’s a symptom of something I’ve never really looked into it, pretty annoying though when after 3 years I still can’t reliably shift the damn thing smooth. When really ringing it out I can get it pretty smooth, but it takes like 2 seconds for the rpm’s to drop to match the next gear. Makes the taco feel like a luxury car and we all know these transmissions aren’t the smoothest.
I also hate the Frs forums, maybe I’m just spoiled here but I can’t ever find help over there.
Im not sure it’s fair to judge the car on my experience, since the transmission was probably just beat to hell by a previous owner but its left a bad taste in my mouth.

Love that C63 though that looks great.. I’m trying to keep an open mind and look at all the options but I definitely have a Toyota/Lexus bias steering me

Hmm. Not sure what to tell you on the transmission. Notchy is good in a sports car in my experience but maybe yours is not in its prime. Everyone has different needs in a daily driver, reliability and efficiency aren't priorities for me on that front, even more so now than ever. You could always look at the Corolla hatch. I had an 2019 SE model with the 6 speed and that was a great little car, great on gas, comfortable and not completely boring to drive.

The Trail-Gear ones, on the street it feels the same as a regular shackle mount to me. I thought it would be really noticeable with weight transfer and whatnot but as long as everything else is correct you only notice them when flexing.

I'd rock a newer Corolla. Not sure they're worth an auto loan but if you can buy a recent model outright I think it's a winner for a daily. I drive a beater 94 Corolla, things a damn cockroach, can't kill it.

Does anyone have ideas on what would cause a vibration in the cab/steering wheel, only under load from around 2-3k RPMs? It goes away when I let off the throttle, and I don't notice it when I get up to highway speeds.

Kinda vague but u joints and carrier bearing can both do that. But it's usually more speed dependant not engine speed dependant

The front tires were wearing unevenly, so I had them rotated for now. The inside of the front passenger was worn down more. I’m still noticing the vibration though. It seems to worse in 2nd and 4th heard from 2k-2500 rpm’s.

I thought that was weird too. Idk if it’s be motor mounts or a loose CV since that wouldn’t be dependent on throttle input. I do also get a big clunk when letting off the clutch and throttle, so maybe that’s related with the u joint or carrier bearing.

I don’t even wanna take it to a shop at this point since I can just see my bank account getting drained by all the stuff it needs.

Yea I doubt it’ll be as simple as just an alignment though.

Ball joints and tie rods are still pretty new. But the rack and bushings are probably holding on for dear life at this point.

I’m just kind of in a Catch 22 since I can’t afford to have all that fixed, and it’s pretty much unsellable as is.

It's only unsellable if you don't try to sell it. Otherwise it'll sell, your truck isn't in bad condition, I've bought much more broken stuff.
