Awesome review... however, I might suggest moving your edits to the top of your post. Basically, I read a very in-depth review for an irrelevant product.

But genuinely, thank you for the write up.

 

Finally got my new locks and installed them. VERY difficult to close and lock. I hope that's something that gets better over time.

 

I just saw these Hammer Safe locking latches on Mike's Custom Toys website the other day- https://mikescustomtoys.com/products/hammer-safe-lock-system

Why on earth are a set of aftermarket latches $750? I know they're wired in and use the key fob and are stainless steel, but ouch. Anyone have any experience with them? Is there no way to manually lock/unlock them?

 

Wow!!! Those are very cool. I'd love to see how they are wired though. Do they tap into the tailgate lock for activation? Where's the power coming from?

 

cool for sure, but few things stand out to me. 1: what does the front look like and does it retain a key option? More of a backup in case your battery dies, you can still access your stuff. 2: Options to tap into the panel/power from inside the cab for those that don’t have power tail gate lock. 3: how much can the power circuit support? You would be (in most cases) doubling the the load/amount of locks to energize.

 

it’s mounted to the RSi load bars.

 

These locks just mount to your existing latches.
Good question about getting in with a dead battery, I don't think you would be able to get in.

 

Ordered a set of 2 for the back glass.

Gonna hit up @daveeasa to see if I can get a PnP harness that connects to my OEM tailgate lock popper... if it has the capacity.

I also make a 6 way flange primarily meant for Leer shells which has lock, unlock, cargo for dome, brake, ground, and an aux 12v lead.

I could likely do something similar for the RSI if someone tells me / shows me how it connects.

I’m waiting on RSI to release the 2nd Gen 6’ bed replacement for my ‘05 since I went Leer 100xq on my ‘16.

I don’t have the Awning (OVS 270LT or RTT - CVT Mt Washington) mounted during winter.

but I’ll remount soon and take picks of the brakes bolted to the bars?

I’ve been trying to contact this manufacturer for months with very little reply’s (1st was asking location and just the other day informed me of new us dealer) I’m thinking of getting 2 just for the rear but need wiring information/diagrams on how they suggest install before pulling the trigger. The remote access wasn’t clear (remote included or wired for oem remote?)

 

I'll put a review together once they're received.

My primary concerns:

• Is the OEM TG popper harness robust enough to handle 2 more solenoids?
• What happens if you try to open the latch with the Hammer Safe engaged? Does the button push, or just feel solid? When the Hammer Safe is disengaged, do the latches pop open, from the previous attempts, or does it need another push?
• If the latches are open, and the Hammer Safe tries to engage, will there be interference issues with the latch mechanisms?
• If the Hammer Safe engages while the latch is open, what happens if you try to close the latch.
• What does the provided harness look like? Holding off on ordering the @daveeasa kit until I see the original wiring lengths and connectors.

I wish there was more detailed info out there for these, when spending $200 +... but I guess I'll be the guinea pig.

I also found this system, but like the Hammer Safe system, there is almost zero info for them. Additionally, you need to drill and modify the latches.

Apparently the Aussies feel strongly about automated locks.

 

Yea I seen that company when I was first looking but didn’t like the additional work to work. Hammer is definitely more refined
