Stuff that costs more than my wife thinks.
I think the reality is, no one in the 4x4 community is going to shit on someone else having a good time.

It's when your good time is at the detriment of the environment or others that makes you a piece of shit, and the SxS community is overwhelmingly that way. it's not hard to be a decent person and just put that extra effort into not being a selfish sack of shit.

It scares me when I'm out on the bike going around a blind corner and I just imagine a sxs coming barreling around the corner and taking me out. I avoid trails that are fast/wide enough for them to do that as much as I can but it's impossible to do all of the time.

All of that said, I would still love a sxs in the future to get the family involved on outdoor adventures. My wife has no desire to learn how to ride, so this would be a good gateway. I understand the appeal to them, it makes going fast off road accessible to a lot more people. Just a bummer that idiots are going to be idiots.

Yeah in the CA desert growing up, these people were on bikes doing the same stuff but since you have skin and bones in the game on two wheels, there were fewer on trails and more in the dunes. Once you get that same rush but add a harness and cage around you, you get more people willing to do the stupid stuff. Only now they're in a mini Class 1 that's way more destructive and way more dangerous to others.

It's another guns don't shoot people situation... they're pretty damn fun to hoon around in but idiots gonna idiot. I'd buy one too but then you just get associated with the dumbasses.

Yeah bikes can be dumb too, but they do not do anywhere near the amount of damage to the trail or other vehicles if they crash.
And the operator being the squishy part without a cage tends to be a self regulating factor.

I agree with you on blaming the driver not the machine. But it is one situation in which an incredibly high percentage fit the stereotype.

I know Sedona is looking to push new laws to limit the impact of SxSs, and I am sure others will follow
    https://www.azcentral.com/story/new...ohv-restrictions-within-the-city/70254750007/
Luckily this particular ordinance will seem to be fairly targeted, although it will have impacts on folks on dirt bikes and ATVs ability to get gas , transfer between trails ect

its only a matter of time before outright bans on OHV travel are suggested

Just look at their own commercials showing SXS rooster tailing on trails. Doing donuts in Moab and Sedona. In the damn commercial to sell them. Poured their own poison.
@Twitch57 were you here 3ish years go the girls flipped they SXS drunk driving right in front of the sheriff up by Lockett Meadow? And amputated her arm in the roll? Sheriff called out for people being stupid and stupid does it right in front. Rolls and cuts her arm off in front of all the kids.
The only things that’s stopped people from going to the peaks has been since they shut it all down from the fires and flood washouts after.
At least the cinders self levels after them. Except the more and more trash I see.
Hell @snowsk8air2 had a SXS try to race him in the small lake bed and they slammed into their own donut hole and messed themselves up bad. Broke the whole CanAm in half.

The industry is going to put itself out of business if they dont get their act together.
It baffles me that the rental companies in places like Sedona do not see the writing on the wall.
Moab just lost a bunch of OHV trails. I fear AZ is going to see similar.

Yeah I was, sad story. And one of many unfortunately.
Saddest ones are when kids are hurt.
There was one in the Cinders a while back but I can only find articles about one farther south.

I've encountered a lot of SxS on the trail...I can count on one hand how many have been pleasant interactions and not need all my fingers.

CO was by far the worst, especially one fucktard who thought Imogene was his own personal racetrack, but Moab is a close second...

Colorado's problem is the same as Sedona with all the rentals.

What about that dick at bulldog that instead of yielding went high side almost rolled into you then put hands on your truck To brace himself in his driver's seat.

Haha I must have met this guy's cousin on my first date with the ex in Box canyon. Same damn thing. Was letting her wheel a bit, I think we're maybe the 3rd or 4th car in out of 6 or 7, we're at a stop and these SxS dicks try to just roll through the middle of the group.

It's just like that one cars and coffee organizer that officially banned modern muscle cars (hellcats etc.) from all meets because they would not stop burning out of the meets. Told multiple times that they were going to get an entire category banned from the shows.

Sedona just approved a designated parking lot for workers who can't afford to live in Sedona. The city is putting showers and porta pottys. They can sleep in their cars. It is located on the west side of Sedona, not sure where.

I believe it. I worked there for the better part of the year a while back, couch surfing the whole time.
Only time I go back is when it is cold enough to run off the hoards.
