    Really,, "poser mobile".
When I got my 2013 Sport in 2016 I wanted DCLB. I have since add a Dobinsons suspension and last year a E- Locker. I have used the locker more than some people I know with Offroads. I don't mind my truck being called a Trail Limo.

I have a hill that gets muddy at our lake that I can't climb, after repeated attempts. While also watching my friend in his Scout go up it, multiple times, and rubbing it in my face. What's the deal with old Scouts they are such beasts.

Sorry I didn't start this post to make people get defensive, it was a genuine question that I didn't understand.

Sport is cheaper than the OR. Has the same technology packages.

Price is just like before, the same MSRP if you configure both trims the same.

That was true on the automatic versions, the manual Sport and manual SR also got the larger Diff.

I'm seeing that the Sport 4x4 is $42,600 and the Off Road is 43,295, so less than $1k difference gets you MTS and a locking rear dif if you choose the Off Road. No sweet sweet hood scoop though.

I think the same of anyone who displays their 120 dollar 3-gallon gas can that's not even filled with gas. Weird how you correlate that with one specific trim or model.

Correction...it's skewp, not scoop. Scoops are boring, but skewps are cool, even fake ones!

Don’t forget the selfsame whitish water pack that’s bolted next to it with the same anodized cam-whatever locking hardware so no one steals your empty rototilled soul. Matchy.

Visa, your picture is already not working. Just save the pic and upload it direct in your post.

But go scratch your truck up a bunch, dude! Be the first person on here to show off your trail pinstripes. Scoop, no scoop, whatever. Tacomas are happiest when they’re doing things.

I see we both have the same dreams of a Baja on steroids…

I reallllly want to know if we’re going to be able to swap in the 4G limited transfer case. That combined with the 4G transmission…man oh man…

Sports are dumb, if you are going to buy a TRD package then the OR is the only one that actually gains you anything... And once you change the shocks then there is not really any difference from the SR5. Also the Skewp has a glare problem, thats why vinyl covers are so common.

The 3rd gen locking diff is a completely different design then all the other toyota locking diffs. I believe even the 4runners get the old diff. The new locking diff does not have the motor, gears, and contacts like the old ones. It's just electromagnetic.

TRD sports are marketing wank, if you want tangible benefits then buy an OR. Otherwise just buy an SR5, they are basically a sport without the skewp.

Yep....I'd love to have traction all the time. I'm curious on the 4G limited t-case as well, I plan to dig in once the wiring diagrams and such are out. I wouldn't mind it being electronic shift since I wouldn't mess with it very much. And I would definitely get rid of the ADD with the FJ diff tube. I am hoping that maybe, just maybe, the 4WD ECU could work in our truck somehow to maintain the functions. I'll give up on the torsen rear axle LSD but a full time case would simply be great.

Primarily aesthetics. The scoop, color matched fenders and door handles, different wheels, and possibly other things I'm not aware of may play a role. For those who plan to build the truck by adding suspension, upgrade the locker to an air locker, etc. what would be the point of the Off Road? If you are changing the components that make it not a "street truck" then the visuals are the only thing that would matter and it would be pure preference. There's also the aspect of going to a dealer to get a truck on a timeline and the Sport shows up a month sooner, so that's what they get.

There is also an element of off road enthusiasts that view the terrain modes as taking the fun out of it, so they don't want that in the truck.

Seriously, though, the biggest fact would be the fact that the 4x4 sport will go 99% of the places the OR will go. The capabilities are not drastically different.

Why would you upgrade the rear locker on an OR? It's a perfectly capable and strong component. Granted I did read about a member doing just that, but everyone thought he was crazy.

If we're thinking of the same guy, that was because he wanted to stay locked when he restarted the truck. I believe he had a manual that if he stalled, he'd lose the locked function when he restarted since the switch is not latching and only tells the computer a momentary signal for the computer to then lock the locker.

Other than that I can't think of why anyone would want to ditch the factory rear for a different rear locker. The factory one is pretty dang good at doing what it's supposed to do.
