    Howdy,

I recently got into a wreck. Not my fault, and insurance has cleared me. Now, I’m in a waiting period. It’s a stressful time now as I’m without a vehicle for the time being in college away from home.
I’m wondering, what are the expected cost of repairs for this? Will it get totaled? 2015 prerunner and no air bags went off.

I also couldn’t open the passenger door from front damage. I think the front panel is damaged to the point of affecting it.

That looks pretty bad. I see you're in TX, so hopefully the other drive had insurance. Too many loosers running around this state without insurance.

I'm no insurance expert but years ago I was involved in an accident (not my fault) a few days before I was leaving on a month long camping/dirt bike riding vacation. After numerous phone calls explaining my situation the at fault driver's insurance company got me a 4x4 Ford F-250 crew cab to drive.
It didn't come easy, I became a squeaky wheel that they eventually greased.

As a college student and most likely have a part time job, you'll need to plead why you have to have transportation. Be that squeaky wheel.

    Just saying...

They had insurance, it was two brothers that lived together and shared insurance. The very first thing they said to me was you paying for my truck? And luckily cops and a witness showed up and saved my rear.

We both have state farm so when I was on the phone, they were able to let me know that they in fact had insurance. I am a student at A&M and work part time so when they call me back tomorrow I will start nagging them about needing to get some sort of wheels.

Insurance companies usually will let you rent a car and reimburse you, but there's likely a time limit on how long that will last. Maybe until they cut you a check.

My wife totalled her Silverado back in December and I believe it was 2 weeks they covered. Better than nothing.

    Totaled for sure.

If it makes you feel any better, my son also totaled his vehicle while in college. Sweet little WRX Sportwagon we built together. Broke my heart.

Anyway...keep in mind that whatever they offer you for your truck isn't set in stone. Start RIGHT NOW looking up comparable trucks on sights like CarFax, Ebay, autotrader, Carvana, and KNOW what your truck is worth before you get that offer. Save the url for the trucks you find that are closest in condition, year, options and mileage to your truck.

The insurance adjuster isn't going to act like a jerk....but he IS going to try to adjust your claim as low as possible. That's his job. Your job is the opposite. You saying "My truck has to be worth more than that" isn't enough. You need to be able to offer up proof.

Now maybe he'll come in higher than what you think....but when my kid's WRX became a WRXeck....they offered an unrealistically low $ amount and I was able to get them up about 25% by offering them comps they could use in their file to justify why they had to settle for a higher amount.

I was actually able to negotiate a price about 30% higher than what we paid for the subie 6 years earlier. Used car prices are insane compared to back then and we were able to take advantage of that to get a higher settlement. Bad news is...when you try to replace it you'll get hit with the higher prices....so kind of a wash.

    Good luck!
