I have not noticed anything on the high end even towing uphill at 5000 rpm.

These are comments on the Catless URD Y-Pipe which was done a about 18 months before the intake manifold spacer. P0420 is suggesting the the cats that were removed are functioning at a lower efficiency than expected. It's a pre-existing condition.

A LongBed TRD Pro 6MT would have been perfection for me. But 6MT > LongBed, in the end.

According to the AES Facebook posting it is 6hp loss @ ~6100rpm. I haven't found that having any impact on my driving yet. 307636453_128548063264153_8166149385525765063_n.jpg

That much change won't affect what I'm going after. Let's hope the spacer brings out the low end torque to make it feel like there's usuable power.

wanted a pro aswell but 6 foot bed is a requirement for me. which is why i bought a trd or access cab 6mt then added an icon stage 10 suspension kit. exceeding a pros performance while having a 6 foot bed and a manual. retains short wheelbase aswell for the ultimate utility/fun setup. while still coming in 15 grand cheaper

He's taking it in the exact opposite direction we're looking to go.

I do recall that AES was polling if folks wanted a custom long runner intake manifold.

It's be real dumb, considering he was looking for top end power, but it does make me wonder if combining an intake runner spacer and that camry intake would keep the smoother (stated/perceived) power delivery, and make up for the loss of low end power.

Very interesting videos. And for being an ad-hoc shot, it's one of the few I've watched where they avtually clesrly articulate all the fine points and issues they ran into and then had to resolve.

Doesn't the pipe only remove the cats that are after those sensors? In other words, the rear o2 sensors don't read the cats that were removed anyway. I would wonder if there is a really small exhaust leak at the flange potentially causing a bad reading at times. Did the pipe come with new gaskets or did you reuse the old ones?

You're right RE: the sensors being before the secondary cats. I don't recall whether there were new gaskets. We did check extensively for leaks and couldn't detect one. One interesting thing is that it doesn't happen on 87 or 89 octane fuel; only on 91 or 93. My tech said not to worry about it. :notsure:

EDIT: I wonder if the rate of flow past the secondary O2s ,changed by removing the the cats, puts it just outside its parameters? May be the exhaust charge doesn't spend enough time in the primary cats with the removal of the secondary cats, in terms of the secondary O2 readings?

If both p0420 and p0430 showed simultaneously that would be one thing, if I recall the passenger side of the pipe has 2 bungs in case you want to add an aftermarket sensor and that side is bank 1, which of the two ports did you install the sensor in?

I just installed the intake manifold spacer and let's just say it didn't make a big drastic difference but I did notice that the gears seems to be where it's suppose to be. Low end is slightly better than before. I did notice an increase on mpg so that's plus. Hopefully once the ecu gets use to the new mod it'll get better.

Going up hill is where I find that had more improvement due to fact I don't have to add more pressure to the pedal. The truck would not struggle and hold gear better than before. Driveability improve with the slight bump of torque on the low end but not a whole lot to where it is really noticeable. Other than that it does what it suppose to be and I am happy with the purchase.

If you think it'll give you a big power increase it does not but for a better drivable truck I say it has improve. The rpm range has smooth out. It fixed most of the lags in the lower range and fine tune most of the issues we have with shifting. Overall buy it for a better driveable truck but don't buy it if you want to see a big increase of power.

Well said. The spacer and a tune are probably the best things you can do for the truck. Nothing monumental but definitely noticeable and worth the money. It's just better with both.

This has also been my experience so far after a month and a half or so of having the spacer installed. Holding higher gears on the highway is easier which has helped fuel mileage at highway speeds a bit as a result, and there's a bit more torque available for getting up hills and when it's windy out. The spacer and tune really work well with one another and I feel like the overall benefits together are larger than the sum of their individual benefits because they complement one another well.

I don't think so. I have the rest of the stock exhaust. It's not noticeable to me; I can take a video and share.

    That would be awesome man.

I really want those pipes but I’m up in Canada. Shipping and conversion rate is just insane but I’m seriously considering them.

    I’ve got borla a-type currently.

    Update

So far it's been a week of driving with the spacer installed and I'm enjoying the spacer. My mpg and driveability has improved. The range at 3500 seems to have smoothed out as compared to before. Top end does feel like its not pulling as hard as before but it's very unnoticeable. I'm barely at high rpm, so that doesn't matter much to me.

What has not been mentioned is when ECT is enabled it's a definitely a different feel. It is way more peppy and you can actually feel the torque down low. Overall I'm satisfied with the upgrade.

I suspect your ECT enabled experience is what I experience everyday with the 6MT. (Based on tune throttle settings etc.)

It's been about a week and a half for me and I'm really enjoying exploiting the torque between 2000-3500rpm. I haven't noticed any economy improvement in city driving, though I haven't gone through a tank of fuel yet. I have a hunch that highway economy will have improved, but I haven't spent enough driving.

I can't stress enough how much better the driving experience is with the strong, smooth wave of torque.
