You seem to be the outlier in this thread. That might mean something.

    Good morning.

I'd talk with your tuner to find out your options. I'm thinking you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I find the manual to be more noticeable on being sluggish on low rpm. The automatic hides it better as your not directly connected. No torque converter. It's almost like it hesitates a little before it starts to go.

Absolutely the best F*cking mod I've done. There is a KDMax tuner in Presque Isle. I'm just on the other side of the Border in NB.

My truck runs perfectly why would I change that. It’s a v6 truck.

Sure have had tunes on cars with forced induction that needed it for more fuel and Spark. And I’ve tuned some of them myself. Useless on a stock truck. Get in and drive it Toyota already did the tune for you. But your money do what you want.

OTT tune has made a great difference on the truck in terms of shifting and low end torque.

No changes in mileage I have noticed.

No, the tune does not make it feel like a completely different truck. But yes, it helped greatly with the shifting complaints I had. That's the only reason why I tuned it.

I believe I'm on lite mild for throttle response and it is perfect for me.

yes I'm i have 4.88's. I had the gears before the tune and although it was ok i was starting to look at trading it off after a couple longer trips here in wa state going over mountain passes was not enjoyable. But to be honest this is my first toyota and didn't know much about the tacoma. I bought my tacoma with all the brolander gear already done and the gears in. But when i put the OTT on it changed the little pickup enough for me to keep it. Does it fix everything no but i enjoy it a lot more.

alright im looking forward for the tune and gears then. i figured since it is free to retune for 5.29 i might as well try the tune with stock gears first. glad to know it made a difference enough where you felt it was worth not selling the truck.

I will argue that 5.29 should be the gear choice regardless of tire size, tuning, and extra weight.

With the double overdrive, I have seen people run 5.29 on a stock size tire and still cruise just fine.

Tunes I tried just made my truck jerkier and harsher. Did not solve the complaints I had with the driveability such as bogging, harsh downshifts, and the first 1/4 of pedal travel doing nothing.
