Is that a common or rare occurrence? There have been a couple reports of transmission problems with new 4th gen Tacomas. That doesn’t mean they will all fail though.

 

I'd like to hear what you think, particularly the steering effort of both and ride smoothness. I hate stiff steering. I'd have a Frontier right now if it weren't for their power steering feeling like manual steering.

 

I finally saw a 4th gen today. An underground off-road in someone’s driveway. It looked ok except for the wheels. Those look hideous on the dark truck.

I’m old enough to remember the good old days when you just paid a decent price, and got power seats with a full-size spare. And nobody ever charged extra for bed cleats.

its becoming common place with the 10r80... alot of them were failing when i got rid of my truck and there is a class action lawsuit against the trans

 

the ranger rides more like a car and turns like one which is nice but the xlt fx4 suspension is god awful and bouncy af! after you swap it out the truck is a great truck! as long as the trans dont go boom lol

Their profit margins are lower as shown on the chart earlier. (thats one factor) also economy of scale since they are using the global ranger platform.

They are trying to unseat Toyota in the mid size category, it is working in some countries, it will be a wait and see if it works here.

Ford is probably also trying to slot the Ranger Raptor under the F150 Tremor as well (61K F150 Tremor).

 

Have you driven the new one (or old one on global platform)?

the new new ones have not hit the market out here yet i owned a 5th gen 2022 fx4. according to most they ride about the same but with a bit nicer seat which tbh is hard to beat since those seats are amaaazing!
