Hopefully have a dash cam because that sounds like an insurance scam. They are going to claim you rear ended them.

 

Rear ended them with the rear quarter of his truck? I def need pictures of that!

 

I lost my shit especially since I was already hyped from a metal concert. My brother in law calmed me down.

I do. He backed into my right rear quarter at a 90 degree angle, but I'm covered all around as my brother in law was with me, my cam clearly shows I was stationary and in line when he came into my truck, and he admitted to the police officer that it was fully on him.

His first words were "where were you? I didn't see you?"
Mine "sitting still in the line for at least 60 seconds. I saw you start to back up on the side and honked plus my brother in law yelled out the window to get you to stop and nothing. You couldn't have even looked first"
Him: I'll give you my phone number.
Me: Not happening, I'm calling the police and they can deal with this.

Looks like a new bumper at least. Not sure if the quarter can be fixed and painted yet.

I guess a Mercedes doesn't have to look in the rearview or the backup camera (if so equipped). Stupid me for buying a Toyota instead.

 

Dashcams are like a hundred bucks and install is another 150. People spend a lot more on their truck mods to get a lot less. They are a no brainer today

Even for someone who isn't into vehicles it is prudent. Just another layer of defense against liars and stupidity.

 

My truck is old. It's not a jewel. But it's paid off and I tender it carefully. So a few days ago I was <somewhere, Lowes or Wall Mart or something> and I do what I always do, parked way out in the empty part of the lot. Because I have legs that still work and I'm not afraid to walk.

Come back up to the truck, about to open the door and this guy in a double cab Ford F-350 or whatever pulls in the slot right next to me, almost runs my ass over. Then he sits there and looks at me with a blank stare waiting for me to get in the truck before he gets out.

I'm telling you, people are insane. I know they all have brains, it's just impossible to figure out what they're thinking.

Bike was gone when I came out but the car was still there. Walmart for the whack shit, always.

I am not that much younger than you are. But there is a difference between being inconsiderate and asshole, and being too old to drive safely.

My wife has a fused back and chronic pain in her back and hips, sometimes it is a small victory just to get out of bed in the morning. I will absolutely call out the assholes parking in and blocking HC spots or double parking right next to building. They are arrogant, selfish, self-absorbed sorry excuses for human being, and age does not matter.

Some old people are too proud and selfish to admit that they are too old to drive. We had an old lady at the church. She absolutely should not have being driving. She had a bad habit of confusing the gas and brake pedals, at one point climbing up the light post, backwards. Several families at the church, including my wife and I "adopted" her, and would drive her anywhere she wanted to. She still refused to stop driving. Riding in her car was a life altering experience.

 

Age means nothing. My grandfather drove until age 93.

We don't discriminate here.

This guy gets it. Or just too goddamn ignorant to not take up multiple spots, use handicapped spots you shouldn't be using, parking in the fire lane, etc.

Sounds like this lady also might not have had anyone close to her to look out for such things, which is sad. We used to "let" my grandfather drive us somewhere occasionally just to be on the safe side, never had to take the car away though.

 

They never had any kids, and she was a widow. Sweetest thing, except when it came to talking about her car and driving. Maybe because she was afraid of being homebound. Several of us helped with the yard, groceries, etc, but she would not stop driving.

 

That was probably her last piece of independence, from the sound of things.

 

If you are unable to park a vehicle, stay home and stop putting innocent motorists and pedestrians in danger. Driving is a privilege not a right. Lots of entitled old people out there.

 

And if you don't know to look before backing up especially after you just walked past a huge line of vehicles waiting to exit the parking garage...sorry, I'm still fuming over Monday's shitfest

 

Just a few months ago I was at Costco and witnessed a little elderly lady in her VW Passat back out of her parking spot very fast and never looking back, she plowed into a 9 yr old kid, sending him flying and he even lost a shoe. He was ultimately OK.

Old gal got out of her car and first thing she said was "I DIDNT DO ANYTHING!!"

Disgusting.

 

This absolutely drives me nuts and I freak the f*k out whenever I'm in a car with someone that does it. They look in the rear view mirror and think they're okay. They look in the R.V. when they change lanes and think they're okay. When you mention "check your blind spot" they look at you like a deer in the headlights, they've never heard of such a thing (or smugly snap back, "I checked my side view mirrors.") They think their rear view camera solves this problem, it does not. A lot of people have back and neck problems and have trouble looking over their shoulder, but I'm talking about younger people with fully functional backs and necks. I've seen it and consequently freaked out over it, now I'm the asshole. "Don't tell me how to drive, I know what I'm doin'."

We lost a lot of safety eliminating drivers' ed in schools, they don't even teach it any more, do they?
