I hear you. Just based on my experience buying certified Toyotas'. Never got hassled or questioned whenever there is an issue. Always got fixed and never had an unpleasant experience.

I don’t think you’re catching on. The manufacturer bumper to bumper warranty in effect for the nozzle issue is a 3/36. The gold certified provides a 3/36 from date of purchase. I don’t know when the vehicle was first sold but let’s say six months. If so, paying for the vehicle to be certified, which ain’t cheap, would have only gained you six months of additional bumper to bumper.

You think they give different service to a verified preowned than they do to a manufacturer warranty? Why would you think that? You think they roll out special red carpet service for certified? They’re both backed by Toyota and serviced by the dealership. They are, in that sense, identical. The service would be identical. The coverage would be identical. You should be thankful you didn’t pay the extra couple thousand bucks or whatever it is for certified. With the same money you could buy an extended warranty instead.

I hear you. Truck was purchased by the dealer as a loaner to customers in Feb 2023. Sold to me on March 14th, 2024 with 6000 miles. I guess my confusion was that since its used, manufacturer warranty ceases and "used car" warranty comes in to play. Toyota has stated that new car warranty ONLY transfers to certified used. Hence my insistence of the certification. But I hear you. I will find out sure enough on Monday.

Nope. The dealer is FOS. The original factory warranties stay with the vehicle regardless of you being the second owner. It does not need to be certified.

Who told you the manufacturer warranty doesn’t transfer? They need to be fired.

FWIW: I purchased a used rental from HERTZ a few years ago with 23,000 miles on it and the GM warranty followed it: 3yr/36,000 and 5yr/50,000. I took it the local Buick dealer for a few minor issues and it was all covered, including a VVT issue. They didn't bat an eye

Update: Here is what happened over the past three days to resolve this issue. My dealer sent me to another Toyota dealer's collision shop that is closer to my house (my dealer is about a 45 minutes drive and was trying to save me the hassle). Tech tried adjusting the hood to no avail. Determined it was defective. Provided me a quote of $2222 for a new hood. Relayed that info to my dealer. They (my dealer) then asked me to send the truck to their own often used body shop for a second opinion. That body shop said the issue was a warped cowling based on a comparison of another Toyota Tacoma that was being worked on in the shop. Service manager will be liaising with Toyota Technical Support as my case has been filed under "Dealer Product Report" or DPR. I suppose these are fancy words for "we have some shitty parts out there." Will hear back tomorrow to see which direction they want to go. I am almost certain they have to replace the hood given other peoples experiences. I have to add that everyone involved have been very professional and courteous thus far. Do you think if they change enough parts out, my 2023 might look like a 2024? :fingerscrossed:. P.s , as indicated by Hook78, all covered by Mr. Toyota.

Glad to hear it, sounds like it will eventually be fully fixed.

Update: All fixed. Bodyshop tech spent time adjusting the hinge and got it up to Toyota specs. Who knew Toyota had specs when it come to windshield fluid coverage :) Bill came up to $120 that was picked up Toyota. Thanks everyone for the info. Hopefully I don't have too much issues going forward.

Would you be able to provide a picture of what hinge you are talking about that they adjusted? I have been to Toyota numerous times with the exact same issue and their body shop can't seem to fix it. They keep adjusting the nozzle and for like a day it seems SORT of better, but then goes right back to spraying all over underneath my hood on the passenger side. Maybe if I can get a picture of what they adjusted on yours and show them, then they can finally actually fix the issue.

I'm probably annoying these people at this point, but I bought my 23 ORD brand new (not cheap).... and the fact that the passenger side hits the bottom of the hood and then runs down annoys the crap out of me!!

Your deal is full of shit. There is no adjustment for the nozzle however, there is three nozzle part numbers. A 0°, a + 1° and a -1°. all three are non-adjustables

fun fact-- all OEM's have a specification for everything. they also have repair guides for the entire vehicle as well(though, that i learned from the unfortunate texas couple and their honda). as someone that used to go to the annual mitsubishi owner days every single year in illinois, i used to go on a lot of factory tours. and more fun, the employee's were usually the guides on the tours, so i ended up with a lot of intimate side-knowledge of vehicle manufacturing processes...

there's the typical conveyor that the vehicles are built on, and then at the end of that conveyor is a large fully-equipped mechanic area with lifts, usually 10-50 bays depending on the size of the facility. because every part of the assembly process is timed, and not all parts always fit exactly, this area is where vehicles are pulled to for further diagnosis/correction. whatever is needed. but they also do spot-checks, where they'll pull off every 'x' vehicle, and verify all the stations along the line are building an accurate product. there's still plenty of space for error, but the process is in place to catch the majority of errors like the hood defect.

Maybe I'm being dumb and not thinking - but if the nozzle isn't adjustable, then how can you get it to whatever those specs are you listed?
