I've seen them a few times. There's one parked at a very bust trailhead here which attracts a ton of family-friendly riders. That one is always busy. Since most people taking kids out, newbies, or weekend-warriors don't have much time to work on bikes they end up at the trailhead and realize they need something fixed or tuned.
The one at the more advanced areas, smaller traffic-flow didn't see much action.

You already know what you want....

First real trail ride on the new 5010.
Super fun bike, really good for riding tons of different things. Need to do a little more suspension tinkering, but it’s remarkably well balanced.
The new Hope Pro5 hubs... Definitely my new favorite hub. Engagement is perfect, build quality impeccable, friction is lowest on any hub I've ever seen, reliability will be lifetime.

I can't speak for the Slash but I can 97% guarantee that you will 100% love the Firebird.

I’d avoid them. Lowball central. They can’t sell their own bikes. Sold a ghost frame to them once surprised to get a couple hundred for it but I netted equal on new frame for the wife.

Use Facebook and join the orbea group. I’ve had best luck listing to groups tailored to each person’s interests. I sold two recently interest will pick up, it’s early spring. Be patient and don’t settle too much.

Yeah that's definitely true but I'd only plan on small parts and mostly road/gravel with a little bit of MTB stuff so space itself isn't an issue in my head. I think deciding on parts that aren't latest and great will be. Like Sram/Shimano, 9,10,11,12 speed chains, quicklinks, assortment of random brake pads, including rim brakes? That part has me thinking too much haha
That would be the long term goal. Bring in enough money to get into a brick and mortar. Right now there aren't many options in the location I want to target. There are plenty of businesses with parking lots that I could probably make some sort of deal with to park there on the weekends.

Yeah that's kind of what I'm thinking. We have a 40ish mile paved trail with non-paved off shoots from DC to where I live and my goal is to be right around the end. Lots of people ride there on the weekends with tons of food options around. It would definitely bank of the small jobs haha.

Plus we have I think about 200 miles of gravel roads in the county, which we are pretty much in the center of. A lot of the guys I've ridden with are mostly prepared but you never know.

I think you hit it with the beginner part. I know I am ready for a lot of issues on the bike, but a lot of people are beginners around here or families with kids bikes that need a quick tune up. We also have a new pump track that attracts a lot of newer riders. I just think with what the area has to offer 20 minutes is too far for a bike shop.

My first winter in the PNW, (central ID) When does everyone do there pre-season tune up day? I maintain everything myself and have been contemplating the ol' overhaul and full tuneup the past few weeks but the trails still have snow and there is more in forecast. No point right now, but when? I'm sure trail conditions will vary wildly in the PNW area and it's dependent if if you want to ride snow/slop or not. I don't care about some, I love getting muddy in the rain but my Orbea is no fat bike. How do other riders prepare for the spring season?

    not enough.
i stagger my tuneups during the winter. just to help avoid large cost all at once. i recently just got all my shocks serviced. most of them on their damper+lower/can service. need to get my droppers serviced and cleaned.

just did my headsets a while back and now i need to check cable but usually right now's a great time to work on bikes.

I think it depends on how much riding you do. I'm in Boise (although now just a part time resident) and I do maintenance based more on miles rather than the season. For example, when I used to run cables, I would change the cables every time it feels gritty or hard to shift, regardless of the time of year. For suspension, I would overhaul when the shocks/forks start feeling harsh. I do the work myself so there is no downtime.

My 38 has always felt like shit on small bump compared to my 36. Finally splurged on a bushing burnishing tool to give it a shot. Both sides were tight AF with the +.07 head.(you can go up to +.1) It took several passes on each bushing to loosen them up. Feels way better on reassembly, definitely less sticky. I'll post up after I ride it tomorrow.

    not enough.
haha. yeah. it also helps during the utah winters that there's absolutely no riding available unless i go down south. so it's easy enough to work on bikes instead of riding the bikes.

Is RideWrap or similar worth it on a new steel hardtail?

    Thanks in advance!

    Ehhh...

I wrap my carbon frames but have never even considered it for metal frames. I've beaten the piss out of some steel and titanium frames without issue, can't say the same for the carbon frames I've owned.

My wallet wishes you guys weren't right. I've got to really look at is as : If I get the right platform I'll end up keeping it much longer rather than wanting to swap and inevitably lose money on re selling. Spending that much on a USED bike is wild, but the firebirds relatively within the price range I can manage have pretty shitty specs to be honest

Not that I have the cash to flash around just cus, but its nice to go to a smaller brand and one that was local and I spent time around lot of the guys who worked there. They were/are always all over south mountain in PHX. I kinda wanna make a trip back just to compare my skill level from 4 years ago to now
