Once upon a time shortly after I moved out of the city, I was out exploring the woods along the Appalachian trail with my older siblings and a friend. We wandered for an hour abouts and came across a rather creepy lumberjack type fellow in the woods with a chainsaw. No houses anywhere around. He was just standing there with his chainsaw and turned and said "you kids better get out of here". Honestly, I thought perhaps he was cutting down stuff illegally, but regardless, we turned and got out of there all the while this creepy lumberjack watched us leave.

I don't recall when we learned that we may have been near camp David territory.

My last crew boss had been there for some work. He preferred working at site R. I'll leave it at that.

The Raven Rock Mountain Complex (Site R) and Camp David are not far apart.
Site R is just north of the Mason Dixon line, Camp David below the line.

A buddy of mine at the Club that I used to shoot trap with was a retired marine.
He worked at Site R (also known locally as the Underground Pentagon) and was remarkably close-lipped about it.
You pretty much had to be active duty or a former service member to work there.

RRMC (Site R) is bored into a mountain of solid Greenstone, a tough metamorphic basaltic rock.
