We are leaving Maine today to head back home. It's snowing hard here and they are supposed to get 18". We are only supposed to get 4-6 at home.

I took mine off too. I was worried about burning them up with all the 55-65 degree days.

We took the fiancee's CX-5 to Maine, though, and it did awesome with the Bridgestone WeatherPeaks on it. Very happy with those tires - they were surprisingly close to my Blizzaks driving through the slush and powdery snow. Probably a bigger difference on ice.

This is pretty much all since last night. Glad I tarped the truck when I saw the storm warning. Plow trucks can't keep up, the road is inches deep.

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
Exactly why I love the Nokian WR's on my wife's Camry. Great on almost everything but probably just a little bit short on ice performance.

She had the WRG3 on her last CX-5. They did great, but the prices we were getting locally for Nokians this time around were absolutely nuts. That's why we ended up with the Bridgestones. They handle very similarly to how the Nokians did.

She doesn't put many miles on - only around 10k/year - so even if the all weather tires wear quicker it's no big deal.

The storm is over here. We received about 10 inches of snow, sleet and freezing rain with the last part of the storm being almost two inches of sleet. My 60lb dog can walk on top of the snow without sinking. That is how much sleet we received. And we are lucky as we are about 11 miles from the coast. Coastal communities were supposed to get rain but ended up getting freezing rain. It is a good thing that the temps will be above freezing during the day so the ice can fall off.

I really needed to run to town for gas for the chainsaws (thought my jerry was full before the storm, it was not )-: , and if I don't get these fallen limbs chopped and dragged they're gonna get encased in ice). Roads were all fucked up but passable, and there was nobody else in town except about 40 guys with plows on their pickups fighting for gas pumps at both stations.

Speaking of plow guys, I love my plow guy. It's actually a dude and his wife, they always do a great job, even when that means (like tonight) doing a quick bulk pass just enough to sneak out of, and coming back when the shit abates to do a full clear. I've never once had to fight my way out, not even close.

On the way back I saw someone in a brand new 4runner (they actually look pretty good in that red color whatever it's called) in the oncoming a ways up the road, just entering a long serpentine from the opposite end I was, and thought to myself "Man, that guy is driving way too fast, he's gonna be mad as fuck when he goes in a ditch". To my absolute delight, I watched him clip the snowpile filling the narrow shoulder, barely miss a pole, and go down the bank into Farmer Bill's back 40.

Laughed myself stupid on the way home.
