What thriving business do these “foreign nationals” operate at the next town over ?

Get you one of these. See that little white mark on the left corner? Have no idea where or what it came from. ;) 82lbs of solid steel instead of 12lbs of cheap plastic and sheet metal. Plus I get get better traction on wet roads.

You'd be surprised at the number of countries where women generally don't drive, or never drive. My wife came to the US when she was 30. She never even considered driving before moving here.

I've traveled quite a bit in my time (I'm old), and I currently work for a company based in Pune, India, so yeah, not surprised at all. :p

Or people just don't care to. An old girlfriend didn't until she was about 20 or so and wasn't going to until she had to get to college.

I got my learner's permit when I was 16, passed my road test shortly thereafter, and got my senior driver's license on my 17th birthday. I had free time as a high school student to learn. When in college, or afterwards, I don't know how I would have found the time. I know that in my home state of New York, the "process" has changed in what needs to be documented and such, but I still tell young folks to learn before they finish high school, and get the license even if you don't buy a car right away. You have no idea how much harder it will be to block out time to learn later in life...

I got my learners permit at 15 and got my drivers license on my 16th birthday before I went to school.

Crazy that damage is about 20-25% of what the truck originally cost. Amazing.

Well sort of, more like 18%, I wanted a fully tarted out TRD Sport 6MT, so mine tipped the scales at about $45,000 out the door. :)

I did the same in 1990. Even knowing I wouldn't be driving a vehicle for a little bit as I was still saving up to that end, it made sense to do it. I told that girlfriend for years she should just get it for the sake of having it in case of emergency or for the "experience" time even if she didn't actually drive towards her insurance when the time came. Things are different here in MA as well of course..my nephew is 21 and had a permit at 16-17 but never did anything with it and has no real interest in it either.

    Update...

I dropped my Tacoma off at our local shop on Wednesday 03-Apr; today I got a text from them with an estimated completion date of Friday 03-May. :)

In the meantime I'm driving a Camry. :p

Come on... it is important to check your cell phone for the 10 seconds backing out of the driveway...

I expect she was checking on her infant in the back seat. Still no excuse though.
